I'm having a local tournament at my school.

The armies is 750 point, and there is 10 players.

I want to know, who you think will win this tournament?

Their is 2 groups, 5 players in each, and the 2 best armies from these groups will move on to the semi-finals. And the 2 best will compete in the finals.

Hard to say. I don't know any of the players, and even the best list is worthless if you don't have at least a general idea of how to use it. Assuming all players and dice are equal, my bet is either on the GK, or on the Nids, of all things (assuming they can get close enough).

The fact that no one really has much (other than Tau) to deal with the Monolith with is troubling, but most of the time, I ignore Monoliths with middling results. Slow vehicles are slow.

DE looks like it might be a nasty list.

As Daedalus said, it's hard to say without knowing the players and their tactical choices. Also, the mission parameters are important here- some of those lists can have their troops sections gutted pretty quickly, and other lists lack the ability to knock out that Monolith or Land Raider effectively, so mission is going to be a big factor here, as well. Finally, matchup order will be important, too. A few of those lists have a lot of vehicles, and a few of those lists have a lot of Anti-tank. The order in which people face each other (and more importantly, which armies don't face each other) will be very important here.

Personally, I really want to like the Salamander list, but the troops choices are really underwhelming, due to the points constraint, and the Vindicator, while powerful against some lists, will get iced on turn one by some of those lists (Tau, Dark Eldar). The Space Wolves list has some redundancy with twin Vindicators, and depending on the way the game goes, the Wolves could really wreck face and take the game in a landslide- or could lose both Vindicators early and go out with a whimper. I think games against the Wolves are always going to be a landslide, one direction or another.

I like the Nurgle list and the Ork list, though I think the Tyranid, Necron, and Khorne lists all have the potential to perform well in certain parameters (Tyranids will do well on objective missions, Necrons and Khorne will really enjoy their AV 14 in this environment, unless they're facing that Tau or Dark Eldar list). Likewise, that GK list looks like it will do well in most fights, but will really struggle against the lists with an excess of anti-tank.

However it goes, you should definitely post the results here- it'll be interesting to see how this goes down!

The tournament result will be posted here, but the tourney will be until late february But i might make som small updates from time to time

Btw we are danish xD just the school net which is fethed up.

Ok, this would be a lot easier if I knew what the Gargantuan Squiggoth did, but based on lists alone because I don't know how good you are I'd probably guess at.

That said there were a lot of evenly matched games where it could have gone one way or another. But anyway, there's some pressure for those guys. I could be horribly wrong though, it's just a guess.

Nids? hmmm I would of backed the Orks or Grey Knights in this one as being the 2 armies in the finals

Doesn't look like one to me, there are only three hard points on the suit so at most he could only have one TL weapon and one other, then you're limited to hard wired systems only after that point. Yeah just double checked and it's definitely not legal.

I didn't think so. His elite slot is also illegal:

In all fairness, if he's new to Tau then the battlesuit equipment page can get pretty confusing. I've had to correct a few people who genuinely didn't know that TL weapons take up two hard-points, so I know that it's not a particularly difficult mistake to make.

There is a little blurb about it on the same page, but it's easily skipped over when writing lists, and given that no other army I can think of actually treats a TL weapon as two weapons for one purpose or another...

We have changed the tau army list, so it should be legal. I will post the list later, because i have the list on a other computer.

Indeed we do, I was not aware of this. I read the FAQ and understood it wrongly, thanks for rectifying my mistake. All though reddit did notice it first, and tried to burn me a new one, I appreciate this more friendly approach!

I have edited the Tau list. The hammerheads got disruption pods and the XV8 is now legal.

The commander, however, still sports 2 TL weapons and a shield generator.

Yea, that was a save fail from my side. I have changed it here, but I somehow I send an older save of the file to Stie112.

The gk list looks strong, if hes a good player Im going for him to win

I have changed the Tau list, so the HQ no longer has a TL missile pod. It now has a regular Missile pod

The Necron list makes me sad - that's borderline losing on purpose

He haven't played in a while, so he has an army which would work in 3th edition.
