The Vaults

I'm playing in a 2k mighty empires campaign with a Bretonnian army. I've got my 2k list below, looking for feedback, particularly in the lords & heroes department. Also, since it's a mighty empires campaign, I'm looking for good 100 and 250 point add-on ideas.

Right, bare with me here.

Firstly, I wouldn't put a lord on a Hippogryph. He's asking to be shot y something heavy, a solo monster of T5 doesn't last long. And he's walking around with a fire magnet strapped to his shoulders.

With the Damsels what lores are you running? If you run beasts in the unit of M@A you can transform them into a powerhouse using some of the buffs that it provides.

I would also give your Paladin a magic weapon, as he is only hitting at strength 4 with a hand weapon. Or if you are going for the defensive give him the Great Helm or the armour of Agiluf, which comes with its very own shield and makes him WS 10.

In addition, when it comes do to the units of Knight's themselves, you should make sure that the total number of models in the unit is a multiple of 3. As that is all it takes for Bretonnians to get a rank.

I'd also try to squeeze in another wizard, as only 2 lvl 2's at 2000 points is on the short side.If you remove the hippogryph, I'm sure you could squeeze in a Prophetess in the lord slot.

Sorry for the way late reply!

I get what you're saying about the lord/hippogryph combo. It's a bit pricy. I've been rolling it in a squad of Knights Errant, so they can take wounds for him, and he can boost their crappy crappy leadership.

I've been running both ladies as lore of Life, which is preety much FTW. I ran a 2200 point game where I swapped the Lord for the Fey Enchantress and upgraded the Knights Errant to Grail Knights. That was pretty much unfair

Good call on the rank of 3 thing. I gotta find a way to squeze in two more knights to make blocks of 12 (11 with a damsel or paladin.

Unfortunately, since I'm in a campaign, there's not a lot I can do with my characters right now, but definitely good stuff to keep in mind. Thanks!

The problem with the lord in the Errants is because they aren't the same unit type Cavalry/MC if he gets with a cannon or bolt thrower he still doesn't get a look out the way save. However i love running Hippo-lords the trick is to run enough big stuff that the opponent doesn't know what to shhot at. You've got this with your trebs wich are pretty cool. also give him a better ward.

I also love my Iob converted hippo lord, but know that he isn't very competitive.

The armour of the midsummer sun, and the other tricksters shard are good items to consider, since they make the hippogryph more survivable/killy. And still leaves you with 40 points for a weapon or talisman

Dawnstone would help your bsb, and braziers on archers to help vs regenerators.

I also like magic banners on my knights, warbanner, discipline, chalons, and errantry are all solid

Those are some good tips! And getting a wardsave on the hippo would be totally clutch. Question: Does the hippogryph get the blessing of the lady? I was under the impression that it was just the knights/riders and anyone with a prayer icon in the unit.

Unfortunately due to the rules of the campaign, it may be a while before I can swap out his equipment, but I definitely have some sweet ideas to run with now I can mix some points around for some magic banners, thanks for the tip!

I've alternatively been playing a 2400 point list with the fey enchantress instead of the lord and a block of grail knights instead of the knights errant.

I still don't get why the lord on a hippo cant' fit in the ranks, he actually physically does fit (his base is the same length as the cav and two wide, so he eats up two of my 3 wide rank). Is that not the rule? It's been a while since I glossed over that section of the rulebook.
