I am designing an army list and this isnt clear to me- I apologize if it seems obvious.

Can an independant character join a deepstriking unit arriving from reserve in their dedicated transport? Specifically I am thinking about a Tyranid Prime with arriving with either a unit of termagaunts or zoanthropes in a mycenetic spore.

If yes, how do you go about determining the capacity of the spore?

The answer can be found in the Tyranid FAQ (the first place you should check when confronted with a rules issue).

The Spore specifies what it can carry.
And other books can have ICs join a "drop pod" unit. Nids can't.

And also unlike other pods it can't be deployed empty.
