I am a big fan of everything that is 40k but I have not played since fourth edition.

The changes in the current rules are incredible (fliers, hull points, and all the new rules for almost every special weapon ). With all these rules I do not even know what works in the battle field and what is a total waste of points.

I used to play Dark Eldar but I was thinking of building an army using the new Chaos-SM codex or the Dark Angel codex.

If you have any suggestions on what army to use and why, I'd like to hear them.

Welcome to dakka Zarek, both are solid books so choose the one you like the models for. My vote is for Chaos

Welcome to dakka! IMHO, it's better to choose your own army,instead of letting others choose them. Whatever attracts you the most I'd say.

Well I really like both and that's the biggest problem I am having (I will probably build both armies in the long run). I currently have the new C-SM codex and I am thinking of getting the Dark Angels codex before I decide on what army.

It doesn't matter what we think, it's what appeals to you more. Take a good look at their backstory, their models and their rules, and then make a decision on which one you like the most.

I've done a full unit by unit breakdown of the Chaos Marine Codex on my blog if that helps. I'm also in the process of doing one for the Dark Angels.
