Hey all, thought I'd stop lurking and join the fun. I'm an old school gamer, that started playing 40K way back when it was Rogue Trader. I staretd with D&D at a very early age, my older brothers got me in to it, back when it was just D&D and had just come become available in the UK. I moved on through Traveller and various other tabletops before I found 40K. I stopped playing a couple of years later (When I discovered girls and intoxicants) but I've remained a fan of the 40 K universe throughout my life, reading a lot of Dan Abnett and playing the digital incarnations of the 40K lore.
Last year my better half bought me a GW starter pack (5 Ultra smurfs and some paints), and it rekindled my interest in the tabletop game. I've recently invested in an Ork battle force that is slowly taking shape.
It's great to be painting again, even if I am very rusty. The mrs also found a large bag of assorted fantasy orcs and goblins at a car boot sale, unpainted and very badly glued together. They're making great bitz to customize my growing WAAAGH!
I've borrowed a copy of 6th edition from a Tyranid, and today he bought me the Ork codex. Very much looking forward to getting back on the battlefield!

I've been browsing the gallery here for about a week, getting inspiration for me Boyz. I have to say; painting has come on a LOT since I was last active in the 80's, and you guys are disgustingly talented!

Here's some examples of the start of my WAAAGH!

Hi there.

Good to see more of the old guard coming back again.
You'll have seen the changes, and it's not RT any more.

Drop by the articles on stripping paint, and make sure you throw your pics in the Gallery here.

It's certainly not RT any more! No need for paint stripping, yet, all my old army got left in a squat in Portsmouth many years ago.

Don't mention Squats!

Pity about the old army though. I sold mine off for a song before going to uni.

Heh, was disappointed to see Squats got taken out. I can imagine some awesome steampunk style dwarves.
Just found out that a friend's son has "a metric feth ton" of 40k stuff under the bed he doesn't use, a lot of it unopened. Guess where I'm going this weekend!
