With sternguard people usually use droppods and drop them near the nearest threat and then get shot next turn. Or you can move and run or shoot 5 I'm fine with these but do you give them 4 combo plasmas or meltas or nothing at all I mean you can spam plasma or have 4 meltas to and be tank hunter. But are they fine with their special ammo and not worth the points for combis?

You fool me once I'm mad.
You fool me twice, I don't really like you.
You fool me three times, your officially that guy.

I take 6 combi melta and 4 combi flamers in a drop pod.

I normally fill up my Sternguard with Combimeltas with the points left after I made my list but many people consider the Combiweapons to be mandatory for them.

About the one-shot-thing, you have to consider you would only get maximum 6 shots anyway and you don't loose the special ammo so imho the 5 points for the single special shoot is well worth it.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I only run with one c-melta in a full 10 man squad. I take them for the special ammo. While 5 points each is cheap, it does add up. For the price of combi-ing up the whole squad, you could have a dedicated MM attack bike for tank hunting. Which then frees up your sternguard to pump bolter rounds into things that need it.
