Holy crap, I wish my first model I painted looked close to that. That is a really good joy for a first attempt. Well one down side is the colours blend together to much but good job

Oh damn, nice painting. Though on the chainmail on the back, I would consider doing a black wash (Chaos Black or Imperial Primer suits). Just a nippick, but other than that, really good.

I dry brushed the chainmail in the back with a chrome to give it the effect that it never turned his back on battle considering I was going for the more battleworn effect in the front. I had given the model a couple of washes with aggrax. I cant see how a black wash over the back medals could hurt. Thanks for the advice.

It looks really great, one thing to focus on are the small details though, like maybe throwing some brown for the small strip of leather holding the bone on the front, a wash on the chain mail giving it more detail, etc. it really is great for a first time though

Thanks a lot! Like I said before; I had washed it a few times with aggrax earthshade but maybe it was not enough. Than again it may just be the horrible quality of the picture not capturing the detail. Besides, I will most likely be touching it up with some black wash and thanks for pointing out the small strip of leather!

Any suggestions for the eyes? I tried to go for the glowing effect with mixing yellows and whites but Im not satisfied.

Very nice for a first try.
I would however suggest that it needs something bright. Eye's you might find pretty hard but it if fairly drab, which makes a good realistic model, and a good nurgle model especially, but from an artistic perspective something on the head or chest should stand out and draw the eye strait there.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Get those pics turned upright, and upload them to the Gallery.
Then you'll find out what people think

As for the model, it does look very good for a Nurgle SM.
The details might want a bit more highlight, to differentiate them from the main body, such as the grenades. The symbols appear a bit los, for instance.
Maybe lining the shoulder pads and joints might help bring the model out a bit.

All in all, it is a great start.

Thank you! I am trying to get my hands on some gold paints ASAP. Hoping that will make it pop more as far as trimming and what not.

I don't want to be THAT guy, but all I can see is a model with different colours just randomly drybrushed on.

This works great for nurgle themed marines... as long as one can distinguish which part is which due to different shades/colours.

Try to pick out details, or just paint different parts/materials in different shades.

I can assure you it wasn't intended to look like that. Probably just picture quality. There was a lot more to it than dry brushing. But than again, I am new to this.

Don't get me wrong.
It is good work to build up from there.

But it is far from being finished.
Picking out the details will do a lot for the general look.

For yellow eyes, try Brown underneath, then do the yellow ontop. Green eyes would really make them POP as well.

Oh my god that model looks so gross! But its nurgle so that's a compliment! Great for your first model! If you're going to paint a nurgle chaos army it would be great to see because judging by that model it would look great. By the way, bland colors are your friend with nurgle, keep using this technique! Great job! -Color Sgt. Kell
