I have been experimenting with lists and wanted to run this by Dakka to see what thoughts you may have. This perticular tournament has 3 games all of which the primary object is KP. The secondary and tertiary objectives are chosen by you which iclude things like slay the warlord, linebreaker, win all challenges, and other unique ones. I want to go all out shooting in the list as the only map is Dawn of war and we also get to pick our warlord trait. Here is my list with all the details. Please advise, I really appreciate you help. IG HQ CCS - Standard, lascannon, chimera (HHB)- 140 pts Troops Vet Squad - 3 Plasma, chimera (HHB) - 170 pts Vet Squad - 3 Plasma, chimera (HHB) - 170 pts PCS - 4 Flamer (ride in Vendetta 1) - 260 pts IS - Lascannon IS - Lascannon IS - Lascannon Fast Attack Vendetta - 130 pts Vendetta - 130 pts Heavy Manticore - HHB - 160 pts LRBT - HHB - 150 pts LRBT - HHB - 150 pts SW Allies HQ Rune Priest - Jaws, Living Lightning (swap Divination) CotS- 110pts Troops 10 Grey Hunters - 2 melta, drop pod - 190pts Heavy 6 Long Fangs - 5 missiles - 140 pts Fort Aegis Defense Line - Quad gun - 100pts Total 2000 pts What are your thoughts? I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you are thinking based on the type of games I mentioned I would play in. Priest joins the Blob for ATSKNF along with the standards makes them pretty tough behind the Aegis DL. I love the psychic defense as well. Bubble wrap my Heavy tanks behind the ADL and shoot shoot shoot. Since it will always be the short table I feel I need the GH melta to pop any back field tanks that may decide to thin me out. With respect to choosing warlord traits I feel either +1 or -1 enemy reserve is best. Kind of like a free MOF or Astropath.

Lascannons are too expensive to put on BS3 models (in my humble opinion). I'd say you are wating some of the BS4 slots for good weapons, by not taking plasma or melta guns on your CCS. ( I would drop the Lascannon here too probably.)
The last 10 points could get you Chooser of the Slain on the Rune Priest. That helps a lot on stopping infiltrators, AND if he's gonna man the quad-gun (which he should do), he'll shoot at BS5, for everything that's in sight of the marker. he should take Divination for Prescience and chill with the Long Fangs behind the Aegis Line. That makes the squad put out 5 essentially twin-linked missile launchers, + the BS5 quad gun that's also now twin-linked. That's the best AA Space WOlves can throw on board. I would highly recommend doing this instead of using Jaws and Liing Lightning. Also, if I use Living Lightning, I usually pair it with murderous hurricane. I'd go as far as to say that Murderous hurricane is my favorite of the Space Wolf codex' psychic powers. It's just nasty if you roll enough hits, and it slows units down, which can incredibly valuable.

True they are BS3 but with orders I am likely rerolling any misses.The CCS is going to stay put to give orders and keep the blob firing. Great point about murderous hurricane, that could be very useful. I need the Rune there to help out the blob as well with ATSKNF. I would likely take rolls on divination actually. Misfortune could be handy as my if I roll it power and take Prescience either way. AA i'm not too worried having a pair of vendettas and a quad gun and the ability to +1 my reserve rolls. Then again depending on who shows up you never know how much you'll need. Thanks for the tips!

Also, bear in mind that you can (not trying to start an argument with anyone) take a second space wolf hq in an allied detachment, since they can have 2 has per FOC slot. That way, you could have a rube priest for each role!! I'm not sure where the points will come from though.

I like that idea, It does add another potential kill point but if I have a priest run with the drop pod unit and jaws something big that could be a nice bonus. I have debated taking out the CCS and adding a Lord commissar. I would then drop the vets and make another blob squad with a stubborn LC. Although I will need the orders from the CCS. Thoughts? Very nice defensive army, very similar to mine. Only problem with lists like this is that they have little that can go out and grab objectives.
I actually for my competitive style run:
Hq
Rune priest 100pts
Troops 190pts
x10 grey hunters x2 melta guns
drop pod
x10 grey hunters x2 melta guns
drop pod
Heavy 175pts
x6 Long Fangs
x5 missile launchers
Drop pod
With this attachment I use it obviously has a lot more points used into it but with 3 pods 2 come in turn 1(both hunter squads). My long fangs will sit back by the line to provide fire support and their drop pod will drop empty and be used to block an enemies movement. Rune priest sits with a blob of guardsmen. The rest of my army is filled with Guard stuff. This is just some advice you could use to think about. The main idea of 2 hunter squads dropping turn 1 means 2 vehicles will be getting damaged pretty badly and they are both scoring so my opponent now has to kill 2 full squads of marines In his DZ while I have an army of guard support to lay down a lot of fire support for them. Essentially this keeps my opponent on his side of the board so I could even get some infantry squads to advance and help grab some objectives.
I do really like your list and think its pretty good.

Thanks for the tips! Actually I know there is a weakness for objectives but in this tourny (mentioned in original post) the only games are kill points so I need to run defensive to blast away. also, deployement is always dawn of war. Too many drop pods would mean more VP. Thanks I may have to blob the PCS to reduce KP and protect the line from assaults.

You mean blob the infantry squads? The PCS's cant join the infantry squads when you blob them. I would just keep them in the Vendettas anyways because if something does get to your lines the vendettas can drop them off behind the unit. That way the enemy unit has to go backwards for your flamers or they push forwards into your troops, also allowing your flamers to get more shots out.

Option 3 We drop the CCS and get more special weapons and a LC to lead a blob. Therefore, rune priest in long fangs, rune priest in blob 1 and LC in blob 2. Also, removing a potential KP with the chimera.
