pStryker - -6 Pts

Black 13th Gun Mages - 4pts
Minuteman - 5pts
Hunter x2 - 12pts

My math brings me to 15 points exactly.

What do you guys think?

I don't know the POW on the minuteman's slug gun, but I'm not quite sure how your list will do against high armor because IIRC hunters are still a very low POW even with armor piercing and b13 is avg pow though they have the brutal damage shot so high arm will still give you trouble IMO. I think that a heavy would help this list a bit, though I'm not sure what heavy you should use because I don't know that much about cygnar heavies

Str 6 on the Hunters weapons while halving the targets ARM A boosted shot would be devastating i think to any jack.

well take 20 or 21 as the average heavy's armour, they end up at about 10, so it is basically the same as a defender when shooting at that armour level. In my mind anyway. POW 16 v ARM 20 in the case of the defender, and POW 6 v ARM 10 in the case of the hunter. They just have a bit less use targeting infantry.

So do you recommend a defender as a heavy option then instead of the two hunters? I was debating buying the starter box and just picking up a B13 squad to play with them. I just do not see myself using the charger down the line and I HATE the Stryker model in the box. I was just looking at other options instead of buying the start box for 15 points.

I don't really know, I think you have a lot of jacks for pStryker without a squire. Perhaps having a Defender instead of the 2 hunters will help you manage focus better?

It is really up to you, you can take a bit better damage as a defender than a hunter, but you are just one target, can only engage one enemy, and aren't as nimble.

I didn't buy the battlebox to start my army, but I did buy it. I started my army at 15 points with a caster and a few units and a jack that I like and went from there, much the same as you seem to be doing. I reckon it is a good way to go about it.

I agree that the defender will help manage focus, and it has the advantage of being better at charging than the hunters when you get close. At range against medium and large bases, the hunter will do about 7 points of damage (6+11.5 [average on 3d6 IIRC]-10) rounding down to an armor 19 or 20 heavy and the defender will do 6 rounding down (15+11.5-20) to an arm 20 heavy. The big problem though is that hunters and defenders have ROF 1 guns and having very little/less than another heavy as far as melee goes. In addition, there are effects that can make your shooting much less potent/not possible. An ironclad loaded up and charging will land 9 rounding down on the charge attack then follow up with more attacks, for example. The other concern I have with the hunters is that if someone hits them they can go down fast at arm 15 and 24 boxes, so defenders can be a bit more durable, though pstryker fixes the arm problem on one of them w/arcane shield.

Oh yeah, the Defender having ROF 1 isn't an issue for me, I play eHaley.

Quick question-a defender is 9 points right? So with the 3 points you save you could put in JR right? More arcane shield FTW

I do believe that you're correct. Everyone loves Jr.

Also stormwall at this point level with arcane shield and feat would be fun

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Hunters are just fine against heavy warjacks. The average armor 19 warjack gets knocked down to armor 10. So Dice minus 4, which is better than many ranged weapons.

On a boosted damage roll we are looking at an average of 6 damage.

So with a measly 1 Focus you can boost the damage roll for a decent amount of damage. Because Heavy Warjacks generally have low Def you can get away with not boosting.

Remarkably efficiant for a Light Jack. And if you get engaged you can simply walk out of melee and get another shot off.

Remember Armor Piercing halfs the armor of both Large and Medium bases. There are plenty of Warcasters in that catagory as well as Warjacks.
