The Manchester MetroLink recently opened up the route to Oldham, which is where I live.
Are there any clubs or shops close to stations? Preferably not GW stores.
Failing that, I'm always on the lookout for people who can come to Oldham. There are no clubs or shops here, but I have turned my attic into a games room.
I currently play Warhammer Fantasy, and am slowly learning 40k.

I've only really found the main GW in Manchester to be a place to play. It's apparently very good, especially on the Monday Vet night (which I've never attended due to work). I don't like the weekend though, but if I were you I'd give it a go.
If you do find a club in Manchester send me a PM! I'd love to find one not in the town centre.

Hey guys let me know by PM if you find a good gaming venue. I am studying for my MBA at Manchester Business School Part Time and could get a game or two in some time.
Thanks

There is a GW in Altrincham, right at the other end of the line, used to have an indy or two here but they haven't survived sadly. If I find £20K lying in the gutter somewhere I will open one

I'm based in Alty and as someone who's been collecting and painting a little while is now looking to chance my dice throwing.... tbh like the op not reallywanting to do it in store given I'm at the *cough* older end of the spectrum!
Any joy in finding anywhere please let me know.
I did hear there is somewhere in Stockport (NWGC) where you can use tables but not 100% where it is + not on the tram line!

Yeah I'm very curious about the North West Gaming Centre as Stockport is really close but their website seems to be permanently down...

Try MAWS
http://www.maws.org.uk/
There are some great guys in the club. Ste ONeill is the maim contact to go for - say Rob from The Lost Boys pointed you in his direction.
Failing that check out the clubs listed on The Warhammer Forum. There is a dedicated section in the main page fr clubs and a great thread in the 40k section with loads of local clubs.
I go to The Lost Boys in Ainsdale - probably too much of a trek for you but there are some close to you for sure.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, unfortunately Stockport isn't on the tram line, but it's got a fairly large station and a plethora of bus routes to use.
The NWGC is located at Hallam Mill on Hallam Street, located just off the A6 and opposite the Bamford Arms with a good number of buses that head down that way from the bus station (the best one to use is the 192, which is every 10 minutes). The entrance is around the back of the mill and is signposted. It's open Tuesday-Sunday (the weekends are regularly used for tournaments) and a lot of the club members use The Warhammer Forum to organise games and advertise tournaments. They also have a dedicated Facebook page (The NorthWest Gaming Centre).

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Thanks for the heads up on the facebook page don't really use it very often apart from for organising apoc games as it is so might as well do even more wargames stuff with it. I think the fact that apparently there is ample parking is more relevant to me, last time I tried to lug an army around on public transport I soon regretted it, any idea if that is indeed the case?
Wigan is a bit out of the way for a regular venue, though if you run tournies or big games it's certainly not too far, already drive to lancaster for my apoc games thanks to a friend of mine who went to uni up there and introduced me to a great little group, but they don't do many games a year.

I don't actually own a car, so you'll have to put with a passenger's view of what "parking space" is. There's a reasonably-sized car park next to the mill, as well as space behind it from what I've seen. If I remember, then I might be able to get a few photos of the area when I next head down there.
