Trying to think up a good base for my Big Mek conversion.

I know the storm boy kit comes with a few bits for a storm boy nob. It looks like just a bigger chest piece. Would the storm boy nob pieces plus a nob head/nob arms look about the right size as a normal nob?

I dont currently have the box set so am just going of pictures.

I partly want to use that model for one..So it stands out a bit compared to just using a normal nob as a base. Plus with the more dynamic pose of the legs I could do a lot with it to make it look like it is charging into the battle.

The stormboy orks differ from most of the other ork plastic kits in that there's one bit for the combined legs and torso back and scenic base, and another bit for the torso front. To my eyes, all five boyz are much the same size (similar to 'normal' boyz), i.e. one isn't obviously intended to be a nob as with many other kits.

Keep in mind that all the torso backs have a mounting plate intended to mount the rocket back pack - some conversion would be needed to hide it, to make a non-stormboy. (It would also be a great place to mount something like a mek KFF or other mekky gear.)

That said, I don't think it would be too difficult to make a big mek from a stormboy, either by:
- bulking up a torso to give more of a nob-sized look
- or chopping a stormboy at the waist and adding a nob torso (chopped to fit the stormboy waist)

That was something else I liked about the model. It had a good spot to mount a KFF on and other stuff.

I plan to make those arms like whats from the warpsmith model and the model will look like he is using those to charge into the fight.

On a 40mm base with some nob arms and a nob head at the least will bulk up the base model. Plus some extra armor and mek stuff on his back will add to his size enuff.
