Great battle! I am surprised at how apparently ineffective the Dark Angels were. I think you are correct in your assessment of high point games, however. The Guard scale up really, really well (More big guns!) where a lot of other armies don't(more targets!).
I have a sort of "tournament standard" 1500 list for guard, and if I ever have to play at higher points levels all I do is add on more artillery and more russes!

Thanks Cheesedoodler glad you enjoyed the bat rep, perhaps I will try and get some smaller IG battle reps in to demonstrate how at smaller games they even out a bit more.

Wow that da list felt like a 2000 point list. The tac squads seemed to really need rhinos so they could scoot up 18 inches turn 1. Also there was a very large range discrepancy, so that coupled with the foot nature of the da it seemed like the da were like lemmings lining up for their turn to fall off a cliff.

A good report! Im a little sad to see the DA get quite so stomped haha! I think a few little changes to the list and the tactics could have made this battle less one sided. I dont know if it is rude to suggest things, but here is what I might have done differently:
I would have traded the Black Knights for a couple of Rhinos for the Tac squads to make them more mobile and survivable, and a unit of scouts to hold the backfield objectives. The Black Knights would be better fielded in larger numbers to let them get into range.
I would also have put one squad of Terminators into the Crusader and charged that up the flank to support Belial and the Knights. Termies need to support each other. With few numbers against that much massed fire, its never going to end well.
Maybe deep strike the land speeder typhoon. I have had quite a bit of success deep striking them to target rear armour on turn 1/2.
