I want to tone down my Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf points wise, but it doesnt seem to make much sense to drop him to a WGBL on thunderwolf. So my question is, can a Wolf Priest on a bike join a unit of Thunderwolf Cavalry?
I dont think he would benefit from LOS, however if he can give his preferred enemy to the TWC, that would be quite nice!

Unless there is a specific rule that prevents him then you can, no reason a biker can't join a unit of ratings, just doesn't make much sense to do.

Independent characters have a rule stating that they can join units. There is no restriction on joining different unit types, and there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to use LOS.

Why is that? They both move at the same rate; the only thing you're losing by joining a bike to cavalry is Fleet.

Actually only wolves can join wolves. pp. 62 SW codex.

Edmondblack: There's something about some str10, AP2 blast weaponry which says "i love you" in that very special way.

That only prevents an independent character on a Thunderwolf from joining anything other than Thunderwolf cavalry. That does not prevent independent characters that are not mounted on a Thunderwolf from joining Thunderwolf cavalry.

I don't have the SW dex but you would need to look at the Thunderwolf Cav unit and see if it says anything about non wolves joining it.

"Listen closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."Leman Russ
