oh god...2 hell pits, yes this would be competitive. actually i have no idea what i'm talking about, I don't play skaven. but ogres are decent, plague furnace is awesome but I feel like this army needs some slaves. it might be better to go slaves and clan rats than storm vermin, but it's your choice

Here're my two Warptokens:

First, I'm not really sure what you want. If you don't want to buy many other models and don't want "op" comments? Not sure what you want in terms of advice on how I'd "rank them", either. But here are some comments:

- Getting your Priest some protection would be suggested. The standard load-out is probably: Talisman of Preservation and an Ironcurse Icon.

- Good call on the halberd + Pendant on the BSB, though I'd suggest even further protection. Armour of Destiny or at least a Charmed Shield.

- standard-issue Stormvermin will either have the Stormbanner ('cause it's awesome, and because it's fitting), the Razor Banner, or the Standard of Discipline, if housing a Warlord who is the army general.
Here, I'd suggest the first. With so little shooting (two Abominations, no less!), it's hard not to justify.

- the Master-bred Rat Ogre is a great champion, actually. One of the most efficient, in my opinion. And Master Moulders aren't bad either.

- two A-bombs is considered pretty brutal, but I think two Cannons and one A-bomb is a much better combination. Still, expect dirty looks, even if it's not the worst trick you could muster.

- Clanrats and Slaves are the backbone of the Skaven army. I'd suggest getting a box or two and using some unit spacers or something like that to make the numbers go farther.

Also keep in mind that Thrott can eat a Rat Ogre if he's close enough, so either get some Giant Rats to stick him with, or keep him well away from your Rat Ogres!

Ha! I totally forgot about that.

I've actually been considering Giant Rats lately. At 3pts (a little less than 4pts/model, if you count the Packmasters), M6, with an extra rank of attacks, they seem to be on the same level as Slaves and Clanrats, especially when Throt is around.

As my group tends to disallow special characters on principle (sup Teclis), Thrott wont be around to make them count as core.

Even still, I had considered fielding a huge horde of giant rats. With them always getting an extra rank, even when charging, a horde throws out what? Up to 40 attacks depending on enemy frontage? The main issue is lack of banner, but charging makes up for that in round 1.

My main issue has been cost of said unit, dollars not points.

Agreed. The models never appealed to me; I mean, they're giant for rats, but they're still smaller than a person.

But now I've found the wolf-rats from Forge World, and I'm thinking that each one of those can count as two normal ones.
Still, that's a lot of money.

I like some of the older metal giant rats (in particular the one that is basically a rat-taur, with 4 legs and a humanoid torso), but I agree the plastics are underwhelming. It's also ridiculous price-wise, as either have to buy the rat ogres and get 6? giant rats, or buy 4 metal models for 10 bucks.

A unit of let's say 40 giant rats? 100 bucks metal, or 240! plastic (and you'd only have 36 rats! although you'd also have 12 rat ogres). Insanity!

Yeah. I think the wold-rats are something like 10 giant rat-equivalents for $40. Assuming you do a cool diorama and/or use some filler you're still looking at $100+ for a unit.

Though the rat-taur is indeed one of my old favourites.
