Norwich Last Stand presents:
‘Deadly Alliance’ – a no-allies-chart 2K doubles event!
Deadly Alliance is 2000pt Warhammer 40,000 Doubles tournament, March 24th, 9.30am – 6.00pm, taking place at the York Tavern, Leicester Street, Norwich. The event is being run by Norwich Last Stand gaming club:
http://www.norwichlaststand.co.uk
The tournament is a one-day 3 game event for up to 14 teams. All ages are welcome, but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a nominated adult. Tickets are £20 per team including Sunday lunch (normally £9 per person), £10 per team ex lunch.
Players will need:
A 1000pt army chosen from a codex of their choice as per instructions below
2 copies of their army list
Dice, templates, measures
Objectives
Rules and Codex
We advise a tray if possible
Armies must be selected from a Warhammer 40,000 codex per the rulebook instructions. The Space Marine Storm Talon and Ork Fighter variants may be selected per the White Dwarf rules, but other non-codex entries may not be used (even if stamped
40k approved).
Each team may field one fortification between. A player may not use allies in his 1000pt list, but each player will count his team-mates army as a battle brother, for example, if you want a to team up as Tyranids and Space Marines, then you can!
All models must be
WYSIWYG, unless appropriately converted (i.e. no plasma guns counting as melta guns!).
We will use the
GW FAQs. This is still a new rules-set, and if there is an area or rule you do not feel clear on please ask for some clarification, particularly if this is a rule you might be basing an army around! If players cannot agree on a ruling on the day and the referee feels the matter is unclear then it is at the referee’s discretion to rule on the matter, elect to use the least powerful interpretation, or follow the rulebook advice of asking players to dice off for it.
There are no painting scores. Obviously we all prefer to play against painted armies, but don’t want anyone to feel rushed into painting and then ruining models. Therefore the rule for this event is ‘shows willing’: some models must have some paint on, even if it’s really basic. Please ask if you need clarification.
We will play 3 rulebook missions, albeit with one rules amendments: All terrain is placed by the organisers before the game starts. Players may elect to move terrain, but please move it back afterwards.
Mission 1 – The Relic, Hammer and Anvil deployment: 10.15 – 12.30
Mission 2 – Crusade, 4 Objectives, Dawn of War deployment, 1.30-3.45
Mission 3 – Purge the Alien, Vanguard Strike Deployment 3.45 – 6.00
Each team will score 3 tournament points for a win, 1pt for a draw and 0pts for a loss. As it is quite likely 2 or more players will score the same number of tournament points, Victory Points will be used as a tie breaker.
There will be a trophies and bragging rights for the winners and a trophy for coolest army – by which we mean not just the painting, but the overall look, theme, and fun factor as well.
And of course there will be the usual spot prizes across the day
Payments can be made in cash at the club; by cheque payable to Norwich Last Stand ; or by papyal.
