Gas Powered Games are doing a Kickstarter for their latest game. It seems a pretty neat concept, trying to blur the lines between an RPG and RTS in the same way Dawn of War 2 did. - Though, it seems to be on a bigger scale, maybe something more like Diablo meets Civilisation?
And a $20 pledge to get the game just seems like a real bargain.

This reminds me of brutal legend or maybe mount and blade. You know people have been slamming RPG and RTS together for quite a while now. Actually I think there was an entire campaign for warcraft 3 that kind of resembled this concept.

You mean.. every Warcraft 3 campaign?
Or are you talking about the founding of Durutar mini campaign you got in The frozen throne where you play as.. Rexxar? I think that was his name, the beast master dude anyway.
Anyway, looks interesting, may just back this.

The mini campaign was awesome. Shame they never really expanded on it.

Well, I really was not expecting this.
Sad news, but it makes sense knowing how razor thin most gaming company margins run on. And given the choice between a rock and a hard place, it is nice for a company to think about their employees first.

There was a time when GPG was a real up and coming developer but Supreme Commander seems to have been their zenith, they haven't released anything particulary noteworthy since 2007.
I did enjoy Age of Empires: Online but its basically a modernised Age of Mythology with a F2P model and the rest of their releases have been mediocre IMO.
As for this game I'm not sure that I like the premise. It may be good but I won't be pledging anything.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Dunno, I rather liked SupCom: FA The second one I could take or leave, but SC: FA was made of win. Then again, SC: FA was basically a modernized TA, so...

I think this game is going to depend a lot on the camera and control. If they set the camera back and have you move by clicking, then it's going to feel too much like LoL or any other RTS. Though if they keep the camera close and have the controls of an action game, then you will have something closer to Brutal Legend and that would just be swell.
