This week I decided to put together a dice tower with an Orky theme to it. Also I've only been in the hobby since the start of December and this is my first terrain piece I've ever put together so I was just trying things out and seeing how it went!

I forgot to start taking pictures of the initial stages, but I started from when I had the basic tower pieced together and then took pictures as it progressed, so here it is...

I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out, and although it can't take the huge amounts off dice required for big ork hordes it can roll just over 30 before they start to stack on top of each other. It has already been used in a game down at my local club, but as a terrain piece instead of a dice tower. I plan on making a couple of removable parts to make it more playable terrain, for instance the part that catches the dice is too high to be able to see over with most minatures so I'll probably put together a raised floor that can be easily inserted there, and also a floor to cover the hole at the top of the tower so more minatures can be placed up there.

The materials I've used are:
Plywood - Base
Foam Board - Tower Structure
Balsa wood (Top part of tower and most of the triangle shaped pieces and ork skull)
Corrugated Card - Corrugated metal effect

Let me know what you think

Man, that is awesome! Great job on the orky skull, it looks so cool!

Are you going to paint it up for a specific clan?

I love it so much, I need to make my own.

Especially like the Uniqueness of the the face. to many people try to copy something from the art line for line, instead of playing to the orks violent individuality.

I think I might just leave this one as it is and then if I make a clan specific one I'll put their glyphs and things on it too.

Cool, love the idea. You could paint some of the plates and bits a different colour, rust and weather some of the bits up.

Show the next one too please. Great job.

I did want a rust effect over it but I'm colourblind and got confused trying to work out colours haha. Also being the first piece I've ever put together I didnt want to try and be too ambitious. It's been primed black, then basecoat of silver followed by a dry brushing and stippling type effect using a dark brown, or burnt umber as it says on the bottle. I think I'd need oranges and red for rust wouldn't I? Don't have those colours yet either lol they shall be added to the list of things to buy
