Why my recent acquisition of a few of the Dark Heresy game books (my thanks to ebay for such a good deal) I've been looking at writing my first campaign. I was talking to one of my players about general RPG game play when I had the idea to integrate the RPG with the standard table top game. So sessions for the actual retinue are played out and activities in those can effect the next game on the tabletop. So for example the retinue's dealing with an Ork warband and killed the war boss. Obviously the model won't be on the table top, and let's say that most of the ork force will start in reserve to represent the disorganization being experienced. Do x in y situation and maybe the terrain changes, etc. The tabletop can also effect the sessions. Table the enemy and seize all objectives and maybe the campaign ends early because you obliterated the targets. Scatter the force and you have to RP going bad guy hunting in the depths of the undercity, or get stomped in turn and you have to RP a frantic retreat and exterminatus call.
Has anyone done or tried anything like this before? Looking for advice if anyone has anything.
