Hi guys,

A few weeks ago i made a post about alot of questions as i just started a 40k army. I'm happy to say that i got all my stuff and started painting and its great!

I use an airbrush and most of the Vallejo paints, but i'm running into a bit of an issue. I'm trying to do a highlight with my DA tactical marine squad and it comprises of a Vallejo Model Air paint and a Vallejo Model Color paint. When i spray it though it seems pigments go here and there and just makes the models look dirty. How do i avoid this? I have been using a thinner, the vallejo medium thinner, do i need to use more of this to make it more consistent?

Regards,
Jaygonx

Have you cleaned your airbrush thoroughly? It sounds like your tip may be a little clogged and it's causing issues with the paint dispersal.

You might also have to examine your pressure. Test it out on a piece of blank paper - just dilute as you normally do, using your normal pressure. If your spray pattern is spidery, your pressure is far too high - bring it down a bit.

Mix it with more medium than paint and turn up the compressor past 30lbs, and get close when you spray. Seems like the paint is drying before it gets to the model

Check your nozzle for clogging, and experiment with diluting the paint, you may have to dilute them more

I"m only a beginner with airbrush myself, so my advice is to watch some of the tutorials on YouTube. Your paint needs to be pretty thin. Experiment with pressure and practice on cardboard to get the techniques.

What airbrush and nozzle size are you using? Other than basic zenital high lighting- unless you have a brush with something like a .2mm needle and some really really well developed airbrushing skills, you're not going to have much success doing fine detail work on minis with an airbrush. Some effects on minis are still best acheived the ol fashioned way
