I've always been a bit interested in playing Force on Force, as I have heard it's a well done game. Also, since I can't quite convince my friends to join me, I have heard you can play solo thanks to the initiative system (so it's a bit more free-form, so less personal bias involved somewhat). That also brings me to ask, is there anyone in the Philadelphia area that plays FoF? Would love to look for new players.

My question is that im currently looking for miniatures to play the game with. I really like the Eureka USMC line, and I also like Empress Miniatures British and US Infantry lines as well (all in 28mm scale. I personally like 28mm scale over 15mm, which seems to be the other really popular one. Might be because I like "skirmish" level stuff with squad fighting squad rather than platoon fighting platoon, etc.). Anyone have any experience with these mini's? What's the quality like on them, and ease of painting (because, admittedly, im a terrible painter. 5 year old's paint better than I do hahaha)?

If they are good, anyone know where to get them in the US? All the websites I have seen are either in the UK or Australia.

Well everyone I know uses 20mm for Force-on-Force and 1/72nd scale vehicles.

This way you get a massive selection of high quality figures and models.

Go for Elhiem Figures - They are the official Force-on-Force maker. Amazing figures.

for whats its worth, I did all the miniature pics in the Force-on-Force books along with a bit of writing for them.

I like the look of Elhiem, and $5 for 4 figures is a nice buy. I'll have to look into it, although 20mm scale is not something im familiar with.

It's roughly 1/72 scale, so many model kits will just fit in.

Our group does 28mm. About the only bad part is that some vehicle types are hard to come up with but this is changing daily with awesome models from Imprint Federated and S and S.

Hey everybody, im back! Figured I would bump up my old thread, since the question is relevant to what's being discussed.

I decided I would go with stuff from Elhiem, after browsing the website im convinced I like the models, but I have one question. I am not a fan of ordering overseas, since the shipping is usually pretty long, the conversion rate is a bit of a pain, and it's just a pain for me haha. Does anyone know who stocks Elhiem in the US? My Google-Fu is failing me. I can order from them direct, if I need to though (since I can't even find any non-direct stores for them)

Well ordering direct is fine and fast... Matt at Elhiem is a mate of mine. Some of the figures in the ranges were part sculpted by me.

Ah, thanks! If I order direct, how long would the shipping be to the US? I have had experiences where a UK company got it to me faster than some US companies, and other times where it took weeks

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they ran a flat rate thing or not. I know some places that do $5 shipping no matter the size of the order, and other places that use weight, and it's all the same postal service.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have looked at Britannia before for vehicles and Brits, but I hated the lay-out of their website so I never looked too much into it. Along with the fact they seem to lack pictures....but it might just be me haha

Platoon 20 also looks nice, I especially like the look of their FFL models (I was looking at implementing the French sometime. No one ever does the French hahaha).

The lack of pictures is a drawback - though a google image search might be be rewardng (if time consuming)

That's what I tend to do. It's just a matter of trying to match certain blisters with the pictures hahaha. Also, a lot of pictures are models with paint on them (which, makes sense) but I like seeing them clean. I do that because there are so many times I see models and I think "Oh, those look terrible" but then I see them in person without paint and im like "Oh those are awesome". Really depends on the paint job, since if the paint is too thick it doesn't matter how good the model is, it will look bad.

EDIT: Just a question, I was looking at S and S models for various vehicles. Unfortunately, they don't have a good website and their website doesn't show a whole lot of the ranges. Do I have to email them to get the whole range, or am I blind and missing some key piece of information?

EDIT2: Nevermind.....my Java updated, and it finally showed me the giant black moving banner on the home page telling me what to do....thanks...

Another idea is to look at Airfix, Revel, Italeri etc soft plastics.
