Evening all,

I'm currently polishing off the plans for a Mech-Ork list and so far, its looking pretty good. However, there are a few things I'd like cleared up before I splurge the money into it.

- Is 5 Battlewagons too many?

3 Heavy Support + 2 MAN squads. Yes they all have Deffrollas. The current plan is to use one as a firing platform to protect my Lootas, 2 as assault-transports for large Shoota mobs, and the last 2 to protect my MANz. Of course, that is a hell of a lot of AV14 to deal with and I still care about the enjoyment of my opponent. They remain exceptionally vulnerable to assault and the combination of short range assault vehicles and Krak grenades should take a lot of the sting out.

- How to run a Trukk squad?

I will be fielding 2 units of 20 Shootas in 'Wagons. However, I want to run 4-5 troops for standard games and the only vehicle option is to throw some Trukks in. Should they have Nobz? If so, with a Klaw? Perhaps even build up some Sluggas. Or is it a safer bet to load up with Shootas and go for a run'n'gun approach?

- Meganobz- Trukk or Battlewagon?

Trukk gets a reliable turn-2 assault and is 1/3 the price. I'm resigned to the fact that the Wagon would just get grenaded to death anyway, so the extra armour would only help against turn-1 firepower. Also, as mentioned, I already have quite a few Wagons and it might be healthy to mix it up a bit.
Alternatively, 5 Wagons is hilarious. Its another 2 Deffrollas and it makes the assault much more likely, if a bit slower.

My thanks for any comments on the subject.

I usually run 3 battlewagons (only because that is the max I have). I also like to run some trukks with them. I always choose a BW for my Manz, trukks are so easy to kill and if you ramshackle the wrong direction your Manz could be out of the fight for the whole game. I used to only run deffrollas on all my battlewagons but I have changed that a little. I still run 1 or 2 but I have started to just run 1 with a ram instead, mostly for a shooty squad.

I have started running trukk boyz again and have been surprized in how they have done, which is good. I have been running the without a nob to save on points or I started alling in Dread Mob Spanna Boyz for the 5++ save which makes the boyz super good.

I've always run trukks with Wagons. I place the trukks behind the wagons to block line of sight and keep them within the bubble of the KFF.

I always run a PK in a trukk even if they can get challenged who cares. Stikk a Boarding Plank on the Trukk and go and smash vehicles. FAQ says you shoot a different squad to vehicle that the Klaw Attacks as well seems cheesy but the FAQ is always right.

Orks excel through redundancy.

If you're going to take a Battlewagon, why not 5?

If you're going to take a Trukk, why not 6?

Don't forget your KFF!

Thanks for the comments so far.
As it stands, the planned list is:

Big Mek- Kustom Forcefield

Meganobz- 4, Kombi-Skorcha
Battlewagon- Deffrolla, Boarding Plank
Lootas- 11, 2 Meks

Shootas- 20, 2 Big Shootas
Shootas- 20, 2 Big Shootas
Boyz- 10, Big Shoota, Trukk
Boyz- 10, Big Shoota, Trukk
Boyz- 10, Big Shoota, Trukk
Boyz- 10, Big Shoota, Trukk

Dakkajet- 3 Supa Shootas, Fighta Ace
Warbuggies- 3, TL Rokkits
Warbuggies- 3, TL Rokkits

Battlewagon- (Lootas)
Battlewagon- Deffrolla, Big Shoota (Shootas)
Battlewagon- Deffrolla, Big Shoota (Shootas)

1850pts on the nose.

Cut down to only 4 Wagons due to points restrictions. Packs a total of 4 Battlewagons, 4 Trukks, 6 Warbuggies and a Dakkajet for a healthy amount of armour.

As you can see, I am still undecided on what loadout to give the Trukk-Mobs. Sluggas would get a nicer first-punch and get me some brownie points, while the Shootas open up the option to do drive-bys.

Again, thanks for the interest so far.

With so many vehicles I would try to add another Big Mek with KFF just so you have better coverage. With only one you are going to have to huddle them so close together that something like a manticore will wreck lots of stuff if it hits.

I would drop the boarding blank from the Manz BW and add a Big shoota to it.

You might also consider getting rid of the big shootas in the trukk units to add a reinforced ram to the trukk itself. That would make sure that the trukk can get through any terrain and in a last ditch effort you can tank shock or ram something.

More Dakka!
