So I've now officially started a new Warhammer project. This will be the first time I've ever created an army with a theme from start to finish so I'm going to log my success and failures from start to finish. I most certainly am open to feedback if anyone has any too.

The back story in summary is a band of travelling ogres have impressed a Orc Warboss with there gluttony and ability to destroy. He's hired them for his army; but only on one condition. They've got to look Orcy. Thinking long and hard about this - the Ogres think they've come up with a solution... to douse themselves in green dye in an attempt to fit in...unfortunately this doesn't quite cover all there natural skin colour.

Much more to it than that - I'll get a full A4 back story in at one point - but that's it in a nut shell.

These will be based in a swampland environment too - this is what most of my early work is going to focus on....

I'll be posting updates on this page as often as I can https://www.facebook.com/OgreKingdomsProject. But occasional things of significant interest. I'll pop on here. (Can't post every literal update on here otherwise I'll be spamming my own thread to hell)

Downside I'm a bit of a slow worker.

Upside - I'm hoping putting this on the public domain will gee me on to get something done for once....

Thought some of you might be interested....

First bit of testing - working out the best ratio of water to plaster for my mold....

This was the first cast; I've since modified the ratio for a better casting that removed most air bubbles.

As you can tell I may or may not play Orks in 40k....

Spent all day doing more of these molds....

I don't know if I'll use them all but they'll be incorporated into the basing & movement trays...

58 Snotlings arrived today - as well as a few other essential items. Still waiting for my Resin though

Cool, an army with a theme is usually fun to make.

Hope to see some orky ogre conversions =)

Conversions?

First things first I need to work out how to do the bases ;-) Here's a preview of what I'm doing to them...

To be honest also - I don't want Orcs on my bases. They're off fighting elsewhere on the battlefield. Might see the occasional goblin hijacking a ride on a Mournfang though.... ;-) and many snotlings.

Also the first few models I do are just going to be plain and simple while I work out colour schemes, basing etc. Going to half build an ogre soon for this purpose...

Had plenty of updates and sorted of abandoned you lot on Dakka.

Plenty more photos on my facebook page. But here - find a selection. Any questions?

The bubbles on the final picture have dissipated since the photo after a bit of gentle blowing. Ooooh errr.

Forgot to include Field Grass, (Nevermind it's a test base)

And hoping to cut away the black border once it's set in another 64 hours....

(Someone did mention i'd be using slightly smaller bases due to the 'cast' But hope that's not an issue) But I'm still undecided on keeping the black border or cutting away. I'll confirm on Wednesday night ;-)

*Also - you can ignore the Green ogres on the facebook page. They have officially been abandoned. Going Ratskin Flesh with Green Tats.

I told a lie about conversions too - I have a pretty special one coming for my Thundertusk/Stonehorn. Asked for some help though for the saddle....
