So my question was are they still viable becouse I thought 43 points for a terminator/SS/TH/furious charge is pretty good.
Also I really like the models. And if they are stil viable how do you play them these days.

Personally I was thinking of 8 terminators/SS/TH/furious charge/crusaider seal/land raider crusaider.

I personally love to play my BT army. I may not win every game with them but I do not like using cut and paste lists, for it makes the game boring. If you like the models and the lore, I would say just collect and build your army and just have fun doing so, because that's what this games about correct?

seems to be a shooty list filled with lots of land speenders (being so cheap in our codex), LRC, 5man terminator squads with dual CML with tank hunters, 5 man squads of initiates with heavy and special gear, predators or vindicators with PoMS (which is awesome).

I choose to run similar to black tide because I like to assault and dislike the idea of these hardcore, zealing, frenzied warriors shooting.... to me it seems silly considering AACNMO gives you rage now (+2 attacks on charge) and they zeal towards enemy's when shot at.

Either way just build your army to have fun with it, for I find that in itself is what makes this game enjoyable. Not using cut and paste army lists that will win 99% of the time. But making your own army and it being 100% yours that you created and did not just copy.

I do a mix of black tide and shooting; basically a black tide list with typhoon and predator support, and an LRC or two with some sort of ridiculousness inside.

It's not the most effective choice for pure competitiveness, but it's a lot of fun, and fits the original idea behind the army. I just wish the Black Sword was AP2.

As do I. I kinda wish he had eternal warrior as well or could have access to it. because of the FAQ he has to accept and challenge whenever possible and coming up against AP2 and strength 10 (vindicator shot for example) will insta kill him.

currently i am trying to run a black tide list with lots of assault marines in there. it gives me 64 marines on the table with some that can move 12, run then RZ anouther possible 6. Combining this with rage is just awesome to see your opponent's face drop when you drop 80 or more attacks on them

No, With our current codex there is no way to get more troop choices. I, myself, am hoping for a new codex with lots of new BT troops

any codex is viable if played right. any codex is weak if played incorrectly. instead of asking a pointless question like this, try asking a question about how to use a codex to its best advantage?

I've largely given up on my BT army. I don't have the right models to make them competative (all those terminators and razorbacks) and I don't feel like playing them that way anyway.

I say pass on them. A fluffy list isn't going to win you any games and if you go with an un-fluffy list that does then why are you playing BT when another other marine army can stick more or less to the fluff and still win most of the time.

I run my BT with lots of terminators supported by small initiate squads. The terminator squads I run with 2 Assault Cannons and tank hunters, it makes them awesome at popping all sorts of vehicles and dealing with hordes really easy. The only thing I have trouble with is flyers....and to combat that I take a ADL. I have been thinking about using the FoR, but have not gotten around to playing a game in a couple of weeks. So far I have been pretty successful in 6e with my BT. Tabled both Orcs and the new Chaos Space Marines.

As my collection grows I plan to add a big Initiate/neophyte squad in a LRC with a chappy. Fun unit that I am looking forward to using.

Overall, I would recommend the army as they are viable. Obviously in certain metas they are going to get crushed, but what army won't....

Assault Termis w/ TDA Chappy in a LRC. Dual CML Termis. Typhoons. These are your best friends.

My 1500 list:

LRC w/
TDA Chaplain
TH/SS LC Assault Termis

Termis CML x2

EC w/ AAC
5 Initiates, Axe/Flamer, 5 Neos

5 Initiates. ML, Plas

Typhoon, MM x2

Upwards of that, bring the Preds or Vindis. Up against flyers? Bring an Aegis. Ditch the LRC, run a Black Tide with the Assault Termi squad behind them. Run minimum squads in an LRC spam list. Plasma Bike spam. The useful possibilities are endless. Its up to YOU to be a worthy Marshall of your Templars.

Black Templars make an excellent allies choice for Guard ..one of the best as they bring the CC to the table that the Guards lack
