yes, it`s one of those threads... but I want your opinion on a specific loadout for power armoured wolf guard.

4x combiplasma
4x combimelta
2x powerweapon/frostweapon
droppod.

As I don`t play competatively and just want an allround performer rather than a specific Anti-Tank or Anti-MC bomb. I was thinking I could easily leave out the special weapons (or two less-usefull combi`s depending on my opponent) and trade-in Logan to ride with these guys to give them whatever comes in handy. So what do you people think? what woud you change?

Do a search. There's like 2 threads regarding WG load outs posted every single day.

Yeah, I`ve searched and read answers for two hours but most deal with terminators. This is more or less the sum of what I`ve found on power armour WG. I hardly see more than 4 combi`s in a loadout so I figured there might be something to doubling that number, as podding doesn`t usually happen for longevity`s sake. Should have phrased the title differently, though.

Yeah power armour WG aren't used a lot. They tend to build up points very fast with no more survivability than a grey hunter. If you want a squad that will consistently contribute, stick them in tda.

Melta or plasma suicide squads are pretty effective in a drop pod though. They provide a good alpha strike for relatively cheap.

I've had moderate success with PA combi-gun and a storm shield as a pack leader for my ghs. When it works, the gh squad has awesome survivability, when it doesn't, I regret spending the points. It's pretty much a coin flip if it works or not though.

I`m not sure how GW wants us to see these guys. Either you treat them as terminator squad with a lesser save and more bodies and they become a delivery system for special weapons, or as Greyhunters with benefits. The latter version helps justify their price as with special weapons they tend to get far too expensive really fast. 8 PA WG with Logan is probably the most attacks you can get from SW on an alpha strike with nice benefits like relentless and Morkai fething gak up nicely, but then they become a pretty nasty point-sink which needs backup fast in order to have a decent impact beyond that one turn...

I'm pretty sure they're working as intended.

Versatile terminators, power armour suicide alpha strike, or squad leaders. I personally think you're trying to make them something they're not.

put 5 in a drop pod

4 combiplasma/combimelta
1 TDA assault cannon

that way you get a terminator protecting the rest of your suicide squad. maybe drop 3 of these as a MSU with logan leading them so they can take your opponents objectives.

I quite like that configuration, but the assault cannon doesn't sit well with melta imo. Not tired it. However, I can't advocate using logan. Missing out on GHs for WG seems like a poor choice, especially when you're paying for the privilege.
