Subject: LOTR models - Price and quantity

I have never been too interested in the lord of the rings models, untill I played the battle of middle earth again. Excited to get myself 100 Uruk-Hai I poped by Games Workshop webpage to check them out.
BANG! My heart broke and my great plans tore to sunder...
So heres the deal...
If I remember right, back in 2005 a group of LOTR soldiers included 24 models for around 30 bucks?
and now you get 10 for 24bucks... I never ever critized Games Workshop for anything they did, but this is bs!
Can anyone confirm the price on the 24model pack? It would be fun to know

I can't confirm, but it sounds correct; GW has been doing this kind of thing for a while. I remember you used to get 16 WHFB Orcs (or 16 Orks!) for $33 or $35, and now it's 10 Orcs for $24.75 or 10 Orks for $29. I especially feel bad for anyone who wants huge blocks of skeletons in his Vampire Counts army as they've gone the way of WHFB Orcs, too. Actually, maybe I don't feel too bad since there are alternatives to GW skeletons. Unless you're playing exclusively in GW stores.

Yes that is correct. Was 24 figures for $25, the they cut the box contents to half and increased the price by $2.
GW must have it in for me because every time I want to start a new aspect of my hobby they pull this sort of thing. It happened with the IG boxes as well.

Ah yeah, thats right... I remember the 16 in one box aswell.
I do not mind price increase, but removing models and increasing the price is just evil.
I know how you feel xraytango, shame too, seeing I only like the GW miniatures...

good news about Lotr, it goes for very, very cheap on the second hand market
the game isn't nearly as huge as it was and does not ebb and flow like the other two
I want to make a giant orc army (ala last alliance scenario which called for 240)
places like ebay and this site, are your friend for a cheap large model lotr army

Rainbow Dash is correct. Ebay is a great place for all your LOTR stuff because, after the initial bubble, many people just couldn't give a rats arse about the game and sold their stuff.
