Virulent Space Marine dedicated to Nurgle
|
Hello everyone! Yesterday I was talknig with my brother a bit about Team Fortress 2 (Sniper here, mates) and we came up with the idea to make two armies. He would do Orks as Team BLU, blue warpaint and armor, mine however would be Word Bearers as Team RED (Obviously). Now, I like the current CSM Coedx but I only use it for my Death Guard. The Codex lacks this "religious" aspect and the Dark Apostles are useless in my opinion. I bought recently the new DA Codex and flipped a bit through it. I fairly like it. Then I had an idea. Why not run DA's as WB's? I could even use the interrogator chaplain as a though general, 3 wounds not the lousy 2 like the Apostel. My most favourite unit , the Deathwing Knights, would look fantastc as WB but there are no rules in the CSM Codex for stormshields.
Long story short: Would you allow such an army? Would you play against an army of Word Bearers who uses the DA Codex (WYSIWYG is included) ? If not, why? Have you got any special ideas for conversions?

I put it in here as I was not quite sure how to convert some of the stuff. I surely wont use the normal CSM figures as the marines are kinda boring.
There will also be pictures as soon as I get around of opening my DW Knights.
Thank you for the answer.

As a TF2 fan myself with his own set of Team Orktress models, I do like that idea of REDs being Word Bearers, although it could've been Orks vs Orks....

Nice project. Of course, you need objective markers that look like this:

Thanks for the positive comments! About mission markers, there will be sentries, dispensers (Pootis Pootis), capture points, enemy intelligence and custom made rules for every single one! ABout team RED orks, trust me, there will be some delightful conversions.

Cultist of Nurgle with Open Sores

Hell, you could save yourself a theme and just drop the Word Bearers angle. I think there is enough material in TF2 for you to just do a Dark Angels TF2 army. You could theme all your guys around the classes.
Scouts= Spies or snipers
Tac-squad= soldiers
Terminators= Heavy
Devastators= Engineer, Imagine a single engineer (dev Sgt) with four missile drones.
Bikes= Scouts
Assault Troops= Grenade jumping Demomen
The remaining three are your choice.
I may start this if you don't...
But if you are stuck on Word Bearers I would stick with Chaos. I don't understand word bearers without demons. You really owe yourself some demon allies in a Word Bearers army.

You see, the problem is that DA are not red but green. Word Bearers on the other hand are red but not green. The next advantage is that for WB, I have much more conversion chances because , lets be honest, there are far more convertion possibilities with a chaos army. The DA codex however gives me far more units I could give a religious theme. The Darkshroud for example, I could put an Apostle into the mini-chapel on the front. There would be place for chapel pieces and more stuff. The Knights would be a perfect personal bodyguard unit for my general, who will be an interrogator chaplain. About the daemon allies, I want to stick to the undivided theme of the WB, so my allies will be IG in cultist style. But still thanks for your suggestions Humblesteve!
