Sneaky Kommando

Hi guys! I'm putting together some allies for my orks, a CCS, a vet squad and a vendetta.

The CCS is the main bit of it, as I'm taking all three advisors. As I run with 3 kommando squads that I want on the table asap, along with some koptas, dakkajets and said vendetta.
Keeping the enemy reserves from entering is nice aswell.

Haven't found any intell on if the +1 to reserve rolls is stackable with the comms relay though...

Main Q though, is if it's worth bringing Nork Deddog in the CCS?

/Calle

For a competitive list? No, sorry. It just isn't.

Fluffy lists can do what they want, but you know that already.

He's atrocious now with the majority toughness rule, the best thing he could do was soak up bullets but they've nerfed that in this edition, a waste of 110 points

Yep, with the majority toughness rule he became crap now that he is hit as T3 in melee. Only use for him is a bullet shield but at this point that involves him being the closest model at all times (which, is near impossible most times)

So yeah useless

Nork is more expensive than any of the officers you could possibly take him to protect and he doesn't really have anything going for him anyway. It's a fluffy character.

Statistically, you will almost certainly die when assaulting a well-maintained fortress with a competent commander. You must strive to make your death useful.

Your foe is well equipped, well-trained, battle-hardened. He believes his gods are on his side. Let him believe what he will. We have the tanks on ours.

Now? Majority toughness is the same as it was in 5th. Nork was garbage as soon as he was printed, he's garbage in 6th, and he'll probably continue to be garbage in 7th/8th/9th/10th until 11th edition adds a special rule that all characters with a name starting with "N" automatically win the game.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

He's pretty fluffy for an ork list, though, especially if you proxy him with a nob or something.

Outside of this, though... nah. Especially not in an ork list that already has better-toughness and higher-strength stuff than your average guardsman has. T5 S5 is cool for an army full of T3 S3. Not so much in a world of T4/5 orks that can spam T5 dakkaguns and S7 lootas.

That rule already exists: Narbo.

Not sure if I should wince or laugh at that one...

Isn't Nork a character though? You could use him as a road bump for your CCS if it gets stuck in close combat against enemy characters leaving your comander with a power weapon to maybe actually do something. That and when he dies he flails about and hits the guy he's caught in the challange with, no? Not the best use of points, but at least it gives Nork some sort of edge. So who wants to jump on the Nork grenade?

Wince, definitely wince.

I'd love to include Nork in my CCS, he's a very cool character, but 110pts?! Isn't that just a little ridiculous?
