I have the original BF 1942 four disc set and one day i decided to refresh my folder. By uninstalling everything.
But something went wrong and i couldn't uninstall the game so I decided to throw the whole file in the trash.
But the next time I try to install it it shows as installed. So now I have an original game that I can't use!
How do I fix it?

Um, ask in the Video Games forum?

It's likely to be a Registry issue, thuogh.

Have you used the Program and Features manager to uninstall it? If you haven't, that might be the problem.

I just threw it in the Recycle Bin that's exactly the problem.

usually when you try to uninstall the program and it doesn't exist, windows will give the option of deleting the registry keys for you and removing it from the list.
otherwise, run regedit and begin the scavenger hunt, its usually easier/faster to google

Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't work like the good old days of MS-DOS anymore where you could just throw away stuff you didn't need. These days, always use the uninstall software that comes with all the bigger games.

Perhaps this will already be enough:
Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs

Otherwise, ... yeah, regedit.

I had a similar problem with the Planetside 2 beta (because I wanted to update to the release issue, hoping that it would actually work unlike the beta). Except its uninstaller didn't work so I was FORCED to manually hunt down and delete its registry keys and files. :/

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
