RIFLE COMPANY pg 164 yeah?
I like your overall list, it's just the Heavy Mortar Platoon that I'm kind of looking at. Is it for smoke or as a real Artillery asset?
The reason I say this is because you have vast numbers of options in the Force-Organisation chart.
(Just noted that Canadian Armoured Recce says pg 159 and it's not correct!).
I would consider using other cheaper elements like proper Recce unit to help the Armoured units.
Alternatively, look swapping one of the Sherman platoons to a the M10C platoon = 300 points for 4 17lb guns, that is a doubling of the Firefly guns, although they aren't as survivable. Then use the spare points to give the Rifle Platoons, an Anti-Tank platoon of their own, and you can leave the troops Objective camping, and send a strong armoured force, with a recce element (maybe some Bren carriers or stuarts) to wrestle control off the enemy, as the Land Mattress pins, anything that stick it's head up.
It's totally your call, but 185 points for a Heavy Mortar platoon is steep. An effective smoke unit in that list is a pair of mortars for 75 points, and you can buy a pioneer platoon for 95 points? That would give...
HQ-30pts
Rifle Platoon-190
Rifle Platoon-190
Pioneer Platoon - 95
Mortar Platoon, (2 tubes) + PIAT - 95
Armoured Recce Platoon, 2 Sherman, 2 FF - 455
(SP) AT Artillery = 4 M10C - 300 pts
Rocket Battery, Four Land Mattress-245
1570pts
Leaves you 180pts to spend (double check my maths)? So one more Platoon to get an even number. A pair of 17lbs is 150 pts, so I reckon you could re-jig.
It's just getting more bang for your buck here, those Canadians look awesome, CV is not to be dismissed lightly. Many a German Panther/Tiger list will get eaten by your 17lb guns.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

Thanks Mwnciboo for the advice. I just really wanted to fit those two Armoured Recce in because the new rules they got are just amazing, opponents need heat seeking missiles to hit those things now, which is great.
The Mortars were intended to be just for smoke, but then I decided on the heavier ones in case I wanted another artillery asset instead of just a dedicated smoke unit, but I probably will put them down to just two smaller mortars. Another Recce platoon would be mean

It's your choice at the end of the day, but I used to use a full a Mortar platoon to lay smoke, when someone tapped me on the shoulder and said "You know 2 tubes is as good as 6 for laying smoke?" "Huh, explain" said I. I've never really looked back since that conversation 3 years ago. Equally the use of Pioneer teams for their Tank assault value and the fact you can take a Flame thrower.
Eyes and Ears should keep those 2 Platoons of Armoured Recce Alive.
Let us know what you run with in the end. (also your post has highlighted some glaring pg Reference Errors in the Market Garden book - For the price I'm paying I expect better quality).
Nice Blog btw.

I really like the cautious movement on the tanks, bit OP if you ask me but hey we play the Brits and deserve a bit of awesomeness.
Yea Ill drop the heavy mortars try and put in a dedicated recce (carriers)
Thanks! Didn't know anyone from dakka read my blog. Its mainly based around my WHFB and all the tournaments I go to for fantasy. Its me and a bunch of the kiwi wargamers I know who I go to tournaments with who mainly do the who l blog thing down here. I also try and fit in as much of the FoW/WM stuff I do.

Personally I never take 2 mortar tubes. If you take at least 3 then your bombardments will be much better, you will still be functional if you lose a tube and its a cheap upgrade.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.
