I am definitely considering taking one. We're seeing more and more xenos in my meta and more people falling back on cover saves. Depending on who you usually play against it might be great. If you play all MEQ then it's gonna be worthless.

Yeah, I think they're worth taking now, especially given the long, slow decline of the LRBT.
6th ed has more games with multiple objectives, which means more people are taking cheap MSU scoring units, or worse, cheap scoring units with things like camo cloaks (harkerstar, scouts, pathfinders, etc.). The eradicator is way the best at handling this target type.
I don't know if I'd go with the bolter boat configuration, though, as you're sinking 180 points into something that will more or less never hurt vehicles, and it doesn't have much to say against heavy infantry or monstrous creatures either. In the very least, I'd spring for a pair of multimelta sponsons for that bad boy. Hull lascannon wouldn't hurt either.

What you're taking would actually benefit from a collossus more I think. A colossus is basically just a better eradicator with longer range and AP 3. It'll kill those pesky xenos, and marines, and adds more AV 12 saturation to your list. Since most codexes are marines, it'll let you snipe everything from longfangs to scouts to pathfinders to guardsmen abusing the go to ground trick behind an aegis defense line. Just something to consider.
As for russes, Eradicators aren't that great. They just don't do enough for the cost sadly. The regular Russ, Demolisher, Exterminator, Executioner, Punisher, and even the Vanquisher all plug more pressing gaps in a list more effectively.

But russes are always outclassed, firepower per point, by their artillery counterparts. You're taking a russ because you want the russ, not because you want the biggest boom at the lowest price.
If you're already taking a russ, and you ever play against people who keep infantry units in cover (not just Sv4+, they're equal to or better than battlecannons against marines up to 4+ cover), then the eradicator is going to be the best russ to take to handle it.
Or the punisher, but that's more expensive, has a shorter range, and doesn't hurt people who go to ground with stealth or an aegis as well.

hey guys, thanks for the input, i think i might include( eradicator ) it in my 2k list for a tournament with hb sponsons, I feel like the other sponson options wont be dedicated to what the tank will be shooting at, will also be taking an executioner with hb sponsons, and a demolisher with a lascannon prob...i have all kinds of artillery but i play against smart opponents and av 12 open topped dies way to quik, what do you guys think? thanks again

Personally I protect them with Camo Netting. While it's very expensive you get a 3+ cover behind an Aegis. Pretty solid!

I still find the eradicator underwhelming, and I find that the higher str. and lower AP. for a cheaper price works better than a less powerful blast which just ignores cover. IIRC We've been over this in the last thread, but the eradicator is not as points efficient (a.k.a. good) as taking out marines as the russ is. Against other stuff in cover, yeah, go for it, just make sure you get your anti-MEQ from something else.
Anyways, If you do run the regular LRBT. I recommend running them with no sponsons and in squadrons of two. With any luck, your opponent will run out of anti-tank before you run out of tanks.
Run the executioner with plasma sponsons, and drop the lascannon off the demolisher, since it's ordinance, and one snap-firing lascannon doesn't do too much.
If your looking for a unit to get rid of that one squad in cover, I do find the helldetta to be good for killing that unit which is entrenched in the backfeild objective, and then dropping your own troops down on it.

Eradicators are great against scouts and anything that needs over to survive.
