In this BAO test match, Israel busts out his beautiful Tau army against Frankie’s Harliestar.

Tau is an often under-estimated army that is really good. As a matter of fact, with probably the exception of my crons, Tau has always given almost all my armies problems. Frankly, I’m not really surprised that Israel was able to do what he did in this battle.

And just as expected the Tau go down in a bloody heap of corp... wait, well that now isn't quite what I was expecting.

I think that the written Tau codex as is it right now is pathetic, but the Forge World rules and units are helping out a lot!

Thanks guys for making another fun and exciting video!!!

Tau benefit a lot from FW. Just the Tetra makes them solid, and I agree that Tau seem to always be a problem despite how "bad" they are written off as.

Too bad the camera died. Tau's Marker Lights are great for denying cover saves. I should look into converting Piranhas into Tetras....

Thanks for sharing!

I've had really good success with the Tau as well though the increase in air forces lately has me trying to figure out what to do with myself as air defense is pretty tough when our fliers are so overpriced even from forge world standards.

Vs Heldrakes I have no real defenses at this point and it is a major bane to all my dismounted fire warriors. Vector strike also ignoring cover saves is a big blow as well.

+ Thought of the day + Not even in death does duty end.

Think Helldrakes will become the bane of a lot of things now...

But Tau are not that bad, with allies they become solid, FW add ons can been seen as the same.

Harliestar continues to lose. Reecius continues to claim it's brokenly overpowered.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

I agree about the Tau codex being pathetic, but Ralai is amazing, and tetra would have been absurd is any proper codex.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

That is not what Reecius claims.

What he claims is that the unit itself is broken and stupid to play against, but the army on the whole isn't broken and can definitely be beaten.

I'm just sick of seeing it in almost every FLG video report. It's uninteresting on the table-top and looks like something you'd see in infinity. It's the epitome of boring 40k. Push one unit forward and hope your opponent can't kill it before you kill him.

Thank you. I have never, ever, not once, ever said the army was unbeatable. I don't know where people get that. All I have ever said is that the unit itself is broken and not fun to play against. Frankie has lost plenty of times.

@Griever

It is in a lot of reports we do specifically because Frankie plays in a lot of our reports, and he picks one army at a time, and practices with it for tournament play, pretty much exclusively. It is boring though, IMO, but it is also damn good.

@Thread

Tau is solid, I have always liked them. They just take an expert hand to play. Glad you all enjoyed it!

And what his battle reports have shown is that it will certainly lose you the game to take it. Why keep harping on it like it does anything else?

If taking this one unit consistently creates a losing army (all evidence says it does), why keep whining about it.

Haha, wait, what? You brought it up, how am I whining about it? I didn't even mention it except in response to you!

And all evidence says the army loses? Not really, the only two GTs Frankie's brought it to he's damn near won. He only lost to Jy2 at the Golden Throne GT on literally the last roll of the dice, and he made a single error at TSHFT, costing him the game against Alan B. Those are his only two losses in tournament play with the army, sooooo, yeah. Take from that what you will.

Just to diffuse this too, I am not attacking you and the idea of yet another silly internet fight is about as appealing to me as getting kicked in the nuts. So, why don't we just leave it with:

I think the rules mechanics of this particular combination are broken and show poor game design resulting in a unit that can suck all the fun out of a game.

You think it is weak. Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion.
