Hey there guys! I've been wanting to play the tabletop for a really long time (I first learned about the Warhammer 40k universe through Dawn of War 1, followed by the Wikia and there went my soul).

I've heard about the tabletop from an overseas friend who brags about his Tyranid army against his dad's Space Marine army and since then in my mind i've always wanted to play the tabletop but always had the fear of not being able to paint well (dumb reason, I know)

But last year November I said screw this, and I bought my first set of Tac squads. Ever since then, it's been slowly growing. Right now I have 20 Tacs, 5 Assault Terms, a LRC, Droppod, EC and a Marshal (waiting on my Termy Marshal and Chappy, looking to get two Typhoons at the end of the month) I think that's close to a thousand points or so.

Yes, I know I'm playing from a outdated Codex and it will be hard to learn the ropes, but I'm not a competitive player and I like the fluff behind BTs.

So my questions are...

1) How do you magnetize the arms of a model? I heard there's some form of drilling involved but I'm not sure myself.

2) How do you make your marines look... I don't know, not so dull? My marines are all painted but I compare mine to the Codex's and their models all have that greyish outline that makes them stand out. Although I am very keen on achieving that effect, I'm afraid it may be too hard for a person of my... artistic talent (I can't draw for nuts).

Cheers and have a good day!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
