Ive recently been trying to find a playstyle I like with orks. I grew disillusioned with battlewagons, when whole squads of boys would die to one melta. So here is my attempt at a balanced 1500 list with a more infantry heavy base. (Revised)

Tried this list for the first time today. I got lucky, but it seemed to work well. Just started using nob bikers, very pleasantly surprised with their survivability. Not sure how I feel about big choppas, and I have yet to assemble the models fully, but Im not sure where else Id put the points save for maybe eavy armor on the nobz. Not sure if 40 footsloggers will prove enough to absorb heavy firepower and make it across the field, but it cant be worse than one melta blowing up a battlewagon and killing half the squad. Going to ground with lootas and grots on objectives proved its value a few times.

Well if you dont think the shoota boys will last, and in a transport they'll blow up too easily then you could exchange your warboss for wazdakka. Then you can get regular warbikers as troops so you could swap out the units of shootas for units of warbikers.

I was tossing around an idea for a list of just 2 bike bosses and 2 full units of nob bikers. Although fun to build and play, it would have trouble with objectives. Wazdakka and msu of warbikers and a nob sounds like it could work. Hopefully ill have the points to keep the regular warboss and nob squad too

The cybork bodies and 4 plus cover saves should be enouph for the bikers. You could exchange the Uge Choppas with 3 grechin or perhaps a combiweapon for the nob

I've been thinking about switching out the 2 big choppas for eavy armor on the nobz in the boyz squad. I so often find myself scared of accepting challenges with the pk nob on weapons quicker than I1, but maybe with T4, 2w, and a 4+ save, they will survive a fight. Im not sure that sacrificing the bonus attack in Exchange for 2 strength with a big choppa is worth it.

I think that it really depends on what you are fighting. In sixth ED being able to deal with fliers is imperative, so you choice of lootas is very good.I agree with rahxephon you should probably exchange the warboss for Wazdakka, so that you can take bikers as troops. Their rate of fire is commendable, and they can survive a beating.

The prospect of wazdakka and a couple small biker units with a pk nob is becoming increasingly tempting. Thinking about whether I'd rather take another bikerboss alongside him to make the nobz scoring or just take another squad of warbikes. I don't think ill ever get rid of the lootas, they've proven themselves too many times. The dakkajets I'm not sure on. They hit hard when they hit, but defense lines and the like can tear them down easy. Grots have made a nice scoring unit that is cheap and can go to ground.

Agreed, grots are good at what they do, sitting down, and holding objectives

Took out the boyz, as my experiences with them have been lackluster in both wagons and footslogging.
