Do Inquisitorial Henchmen in an allied contingent led by Coteaz count as one of the troops choices, or can it count as the elites/free choice????

Thanks

From the FAQ:

Q. Taking Inquisitor Coteaz in your force turns Henchman Warbands
into troops choices. Does this mean that they take up a force
organisation slot and can no longer be taken as an elites choice? (p45)
A. Yes to both questions.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Thank you! I missed that when I looked over the FAQ.

Nuts though....I really wanted Coteaz, a warband and 2 units of strikers. I guess I can make one unit interceptors.

Although just to point out, Corteaz is a special character and you can't take special characters when using allies.

Why not?

Please re-read the Allies rules. You will find that you are mistaken.

Do you have a page for this? I'm guessing this is a local house rule from your FLGS?

Unlike the new codex releases where a character that unlocks elites/heavies/ect. as troops can't be used for allies purposes. The older codex's out there don't have this restriction and probably won't until they are rehashed.

Edit: They can still be taken, they just lose the "unlock as troops" ability.

The underlined is incorrect.

allied that "unlock as troops" still do so in an allied detachment. EDIT: (Unless the codex Specifically says that you can not).

Not in the new codices. They specifically state that the unlock as troops must be in the main detachment.

Edited my post to reflect the new info. (Why did I think there was no exception to the rule, in 40k there is usually an exception to the rule).

I was going to say always, but that is not always true, so I went with usually.

So I take it this is the exception then?
