Wii U Super Smash Bros. Set to Debut at E3 2013 by MyLifeIsAnRPG on January 24th, 2013 at 12:38 pm
As is usually the case, lots of big things are going to be revealed at E3 this year. Most analysts say that the next PlayStation and Xbox will be taking center stage. However, Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U, has already been released, and so their presentation will be all about the software. Of course, where there’s a new Nintendo console, there’s a new Super Smash Brothers, and Nintendo has recently confirmed in a Nintendo Direct conference that we will get our first look at the new Smash during E3 2013.
The new Smash Bros., titled Smash Brothers Universe if we can believe some prior leaks, was announced at E3 2011. Last year, unfortunately, the event provided us no information about the new title. Recently, we have learned that Namco Bandai will be handling development this time around and, considering their experience in the fighting game industry, that may mean good things for the beloved Nintendo franchise.
SRK will be at E3 this year and we will bring you updates about the new Smash Bros. live from the event.
Let the speculation and wish listing begin

This should prove interesting. For better or worse who knows.

Well, with Namco working on the project, and Sakurai (and his obscenely huge ego) not at the helm anymore, hopefully they can make it an actually good game this time around.
All said, after Brawl, I have high hopes, but low expectations.

Melee was just as easy to get into, but had much more potential for technical skill and competitive play. It pleased both hardcore and casual audiences. Brawl is toothless and boring.

Not really it's a lot easier to pick up and learn how to play super smash bros. than it is with street fighter or soul caliber games.
So I take it you don't really know how to play Smash Bros. Just because the game is easy to pick up doesn't meant it's got a low cieling. Melee is incredibly technical, easily more technical than both Street Fighter or Soul Calibur.

Super Smash Bros. Melee was one of the first games I ever owned while I would get roflstomped by those guys in the video you showed earlier I consider myself a decent player with a good understanding of the game, my argument was that Super Smash Bros. was easier for casual
gamers to pick up than most other fighting games (combos are easier to memorize) and that is why I consider it a less hardcore fighter because most people are probably playing it at the casual level having a few laughs with your friends. I agree that Super Smash Bros. when versing other
expert-level players it would be an intense and technical experience but most players probably won't experience that, where with Street Fighter and Soul Caliber you need to understand and memorize at least some combos if you want to enjoy the game even at the simplest level, Super
Smash Bros. doesn't really require me to memorize a big list of combos.

All you need to understand in order to play Street Fighter at the simplest level is how to throw a fireball and use a low roundhouse.
Soul Calibur isn't particularly combo excessive either, it's more based on pokes.
If you're talking about fighters with a higher barrier of entry, then you'd best look at something like Guilty Gear or King of Fighters.

I guess, but Super Smash Bros. is the only fighter I really enjoy as all the combos are easy to memorize and perform I don't want to put the time and effort into learning the combo lists in other fighting games, plus I easily get bored with fighting games (with the exception of Super
Smash Bros. series).

Been playing Samus since the first, but enjoyed Pokemon Trainer and Metaknight with Brawl. I don't miss the sliding from Melee just like I don't miss snaking from Mario Kart DS though.

Meh. I find the idea of "hardcore" gaming totally laughable I must admit.
Still, my fighter experience is limited to Soul Calibur 4. And the only reason I liked it was the awesome character creator. Well, the gameplay was good, but I couldn't get over just how cheesy the game was, with the over the top music and atrocious voice acting.

I'd kill for another GG. Blazblue is too dial-a-combo for my tastes. I love the freeform nature of GG. The cast is also way cooler than Blazblue's bundle of generic anime cliches.
