Found a part in the rulebook where it states "models" in area terrain get the cover save. Do my warwalkers get a 4+ in ruins? I think they do and someone challenged me on that but the " models" reference was all I could find.

Read P. 74 it has the specifics of Vehicles and Cover saves.

In short they can get the save, if they are sufficiently obscured.

Area terrain does not involve obscuration according to the rules. The obscuration requirement is for non-area terrain. A squad sitting on a crater, the classic GW crater, do get a cover save do they not, even though they are not in cover. It is because that area has been designated as area terrain, with a certain save, and so that any model within the area gets a save.

I think you are right that they get a save.

Re-read the vehicle rules, Specifically the first bullet point on P. 75 for why your statement is incorrect.

You are absolutely right. My mistake. Thank-you for teaching me!
