A couple of questions on tanks, what should I put on a SM rhino? Like I've heard extra armor or a HKM might be good but I don't know, and for a predator what would I need on that? I'm thinking extra armor so they don't stuff up my lascannon shooting or maybe smokes for the 5+ cover? But then I'd lose my shooting. What do you guys think?

depends on how you plan to use them. I like smoke, if I'm using rhinos they exist solely to get my grey hunters close to the enemy. if they survive past that purpouse then they might shoot at a squad until they get krumped. or provide mobile cover but I still prefer DP over rhino any day though. I do recomend when buying rhinos to get the razorback kit instead though because it comese with the back to make it a rhino so you can interchange between it and the razorback top. As far as preds I have never used them personally but I have seen people use the TL lascannon ones to great effect.

Rhino: nothing. The sole purpose of a Rhino is to get a squad from point A to point B as cheaply as possible, so you should never buy any upgrades for it.
Predator: nothing. Extra armor doesn't matter because it only downgrades "stunned" results to "shaken", and with "shaken" you're still limited to BS 1 shooting.

At very low points, it can be worth it to give a Rhino a second Storm Bolter.
But otherwise, nothing.
On a predator, nothing except sponsons. If the main gun is a lascannon, give it lascannon sponsons. If its the Autocannon, you can either go for Heavy Bolters to make a very cheap anti-infantry gunboat. Or lascannons to make it a dual purpose vehicle. Lascannon sponsons with autocannon turret is the best way to go IMO.

I feel on transports (I.E. Rhinos) that the extra armour is worth it? The points you spent buying it are essentially wasted if it forces to stand still for a turn.

But that's only 1/6 results, and only on a penetrating hit, and only if your opponent doesn't just kill your AV 11 transport before you get a movement phase. That's extremely situational for an upgrade that costs a good percentage of the cost of the Rhino itself.
