Subject: A first take on Orks 2000 pts

Hey guys, a friend of mine recently had to move out of town and he didn't want to take his ork army with him so he borrowed them to me. Now I have a 2000 pts 4th/5th ed army (he stopped playing a few years ago and never really added new models to his army since the ork codex release), he however ran a killa kan wall, so I have a bunch of kans which I don't really like much.
I already own a good chunk of chaos, which is my main army and the one i play 90% of the time, and a modest IG army which is my side project with GKs/DA/sisters as allied attachments. And due to not playing the IG enough i never picked interest for a 3rd army, rather spend that money on my WoC army for fantasy which hasn't received as much love as I'd like.
Anyway... going back on the Orks, I'd like to assemble a 2000 pts army with a little investment over what I already got. For a theme I've always liked the fluff of blodd axes therefore a unit of kommandos is mandatory, sadly my friend only had the snikrot model, so I'll have to buy/convert some kommandos. I'm also using every single boy he had on this list, only on bigger squads than the ones he ran.
HQ
Warboss - Megarmor, Cybork
Bik Mekk- KFF, 'eavy armor
Elites
15 Lootas
15 Kommandos - Snikrot, 1x Rokkit, 1xBurna
Troops
Deff dread 2xCCW
10x Nobz - Painboy, Grot Orderly, Bosspole
30x Slugga Boyz - Nob w/ PK & 'Eavy Armor, 3x Rokkit
30x Slugga Boyz - Nob w/ PK & 'Eavy Armor, 3x Rokkit
30x Shoota Boyz - Nob w/ PK & 'Eavy Armor, 3x Shootas
Fast
8x Warbikes - Nob, PK, Bosspole
2x Warbuggies - 2x Rokkit
Total ~2000
This list is around the 2000 pts a few points over or less, but is the general idea of how it would go, for this list I'd only need to buy me 1 box of lootas, 1 painboy, and get some bitz or boyz for the kommando conversions.
So... will this list terribly fail or will it stand it's ground? Again I'm not looking for the best ork list just to throw some dice win some and lose some with no biggy. Just don't want to get crushed.

To be honest kommandos are pretty weak these days. I wouldn't personally run them. Since they can't assault the turn the arrive they will get shot up and killed very quickly and easily. I would avoid them and go with some heavy support. I would also go with nobs on bikes rather than your set up. Giving them a few PK, banner, BC and pain boy. The boss would also be nice on a bike. You can do this by dropping the regular warbikers. Nob bikers are very good!
Some food for thought

If you wanna take commandos, they'd be best with rokkits or burnas as they are a ambush unit that no longer can assault as they come from that reserve :/

Yeah, i was actually planning on running a speed freaks list with the boss on bike along with the nobz, but then again I'd like to keep the $ investment to the minimum and buying 8 more bikes for conversion is a little expensive :s.
And completely agree with the kommandos, the assault restriction just took out all of their usefulness but how can a i refuse to deny an awesome looking model like snikrott. maybe drop the numbers and only go with 2 rokkits, try to open vehicles that are sitting on the back?
Also was thinking on stretching a little my investment and buy me a dakka jet I hear they are quite good.
Edit: I also though on modeling the ones I currently got and therefore save me some bucks however they are the old bikes and i think there is no way to fit a nob in there. Only 3 of the 9 i got are the new ones.

If you wanna pop veichles that way, your best bet would be deffkoptas with TL rokkits, rather than kommandos. Outflanking is fun, but not guarenteed to come inn like with your Snikrot wherever you want em :3 atleast that's a good part for his awesome lookin' model.

This. Burnas or no kommandos. The only use for kommandos now is to try and wipe out a sissy hiding scoring unit. The rokkit is going to miss 2/3 of the time, so what's the point? The flamer never misses!
Deffkoptas are the best platform for rokkits since they're twin linked and highly mobile, 4+ armor and 5+ jinks with multiple wounds.

Don't add or takeaway anything the Ork codex is a tier 5 list at best so you will never win any games so just play for the lul's.
If you want to win games just play your Chaos and take DA/GK if you want to faceroll a torny

My recomendation for the Bykes.. paint them and save them in a pretty shelve... at so many points they are expensive cover for your walking boys - same for the buggies, new rules make them (more)obsolete.
Change them for gretchins, cheaper cover screen, (cheap to buy too) and they can "picnick" in one capture point which the bykes cant.
rest of the list: you got yourself something big and really fun to play, whether you win or not is something copmpletely aleatory, which is what I love of this lists, same oponent can blast you before you can reach him and next game you roll over him with your green tide... so much depends on having 1st turn, rolling high for run, rolling 5's & 6's...
dont play like you care "you came here to play" jump at your oponent and dont think 'till turn 5 for the victory, just have fun kicking stuff arround (and saving orks in bunches, 1st and 2nd turns are just a orkslaughter, but the surviving orks can overcome a tank, 2 astartes units and capture a point.
