After playing and doing very well with Dark Eldar. I needed a break and after borrowing nearly every thing i list below, from 4 people. I playing this at a 1750 tourney last weekend. I got 3rd place and was pretty shocked (16 players, very highly competitive crowd)
I usually dont post my list, but i really cant see what else i could or would do to change this list. Nor do i think i would make it a full time play list.
HQ: Azreal
TROOP 1: 10 DW termies, assualt cannon, cyclone ML. Sgt w/power sword
TROOP 2: 5 DW termies, assualt cannon, 2 with th/sh, sgt with PS.
TROOP 3: 5 DW termies, cyclone ML, 2 th/sh, sgt w/ ps
ELITE 1: 5 Deathwing KNIGHTs
ALLIES: ULTRAMARINE
HQ: Tigurius
TROOP: 5 scouts, sgt w/melta bombs.
Azreal and Tigurius join the 10 man squad and start on the board.
Ultramarines scouts started on the board, and played no part in any of the battles. Simply parked on an objective trying to stay out of site.
Thats 4 'squads' on the Board.
the 3 5 man termies DW assualt turn 1. After Tigurius Gates of Infinity his squad (w/ azreal) to the opponents face.
Thats 25 termies in your face turn 1. Everyone shoots. Use split fire rule where applicable. And pick your next turn assualts with the big 10 man unit carefully. I just kept using Gates of infinity, even to escape blob squads. Redeploy as if deepstriking, so all the terminators get to use Vengeful strike every turn with their shooting.
NOTE* do not underestimate the effectiveness of Azreal "blind" shot from his combi weapon.
Pretty fun to use, and you would think 10 termies just shooting twin link shots each turn isn't really 'good'. But man that strategy worked well for me.
not to mention. Deferring first turn, allows you to (unless you are terribly unlucky) put tigurius/azreal and his scoring unit on any objective on your final turn. Even if you deviate far, there is still so many models in the unit to take up "make up" space. As well running in the shooting to claim/contest that key objective.
