I am off to my second tournament in a few weeks and while I am happy with my army at the last tournament (managed a 3rd place) I felt let down by animosity and that I had taken to much chaff which provided easy points for my opponents. The list I took was:

Savage Orc Great Shaman - Lvl 4, Earthing Rod
NG Great Shaman - Lv 4, Dispel Scroll

NG BSB - Standard of Disc

2x40 NG w/ Spears+Shields+Netters+Muso+Standard
1x20 NG w/ Bows+Muso
5 Goblin Wolf Riders
4 Fanatics

Goblin Wolf Chariot
Goblin Wolf Chariot
Goblin Wolf Chariot
8 Trolls
Squig Herd - 24 Squigs/11 Herders
Squig Herd - 24 Squigs/11 Herders

Mangler Squig
Mangler Squig
Doom Diver
Doom Diver
Rock Lobba
Pump Wagon

I am now looking at evolving the army to look like this:

Level 4 Savage Orc Great Shaman - Lucky Shrunken Head, Fencer's Blades, Obsidian Trinket

Level 2 NG Shaman - Dispel Scroll
Level 1 NG Shaman - Channeling Rod
Black Orc BSB - Standard of Disc

31 Savage Orc Big'uns - FC+Bows
2x21 NG with Bows
4 Fanatics

Goblin Wolf Chariot
Goblin Wolf Chariot
Goblin Wolf Chariot
6 Trolls
Squig Herd - 24 Squigs/11 Herders
Squig Herd - 24 Squigs/11 Herders

Rock Lobba
Doom Diver
Doom Diver
Mangler
Mangler

The concept of the army is similar, playing a counter-attacking game against most armies which will have to come to me or rushing shooting armies. What it is though is far more reliable due to the Black Orc and has another heavy hitting combat unit. The reason I have gone for bows is to allow me to clear out chaff when playing defensively and I still feel the unit will be able to win most match-ups, especially considering it is not meant to be my first unit in combat. What worries me though is the lack of an earthing rod, lack of banners for Blood and Glory and the relative vulnerability of the BSB.

Any thoughts or input would be much appreciated.

I can't put my finger on it, but the revised list just seems like it is missing something... I think it may be the lack of a large steadfast block.
Your army/playstyle generally ends up being a very reactive playstyle, which may be tough to accomplish without at least one block that can hold up an elite enemy

Also, what are the plans for the 2x21 bow goblin blocks? offensively they may be a little too easy to take out giving some fairly easy VP. defensively really takes away your armies footprint to block paths.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Savage Orc Big'uns generally work best at 50 models with Additional hand weapons. You have enough chaff on the field. And that unit can stand up to most things.

Malifaux masters owned: Guild(Sans McCabe), Outcasts(Sans Misaki), Arcanists(Sans Marcus)

@xalfej - I guess I figured that the squigs could rank up 5 at the front and that would be sufficient. I see the 2 units of archers as bunkers for the shamans, fanatic delivery systems and to clear out any chaff which attempts to hit my warmachines. They'll be in behind my battle-line 7.5" from the front of my combat units and will pop fanatics into anyone who tries to charge me. Despite it being reactive I find that with the war-machines and the Foot of Gork most armies have to come to me if they don't want to bleed points out. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by footprints blocking paths defensively, not enough chaff?

On the other hand I can't think of any other useful way to spend those points except maybe dropping one for 5 Wolf-riders

@thedarkavenger - I agree, but I'm comped at 40 models per unit and 450 points so that's not an option.

I'd consider the following:

- Savages with bows? As much as I like the idea, extra hand weapons cost the same, and are better.

- I've found that units of 30 Night Gobbos with bows and Nets can stand up to softened-up units pretty well, while still being a sorta' small unit.

- I'd recommend one Squig Herd; if your opponent can deal with one, he can almost certainly deal with two.

- finally, I've always thought that two Rock Lobbas would go farther than two Doom Divers, once you consider all the D6's of S5+ hits you've got in your Fanatics, Chariots, and Manglers. More templates = more balanced.
