I want to make a counts as Space Marine Vulkan list using Mantic squats. I found some 3rd party tunneling contraptions that would make perfect drop pods. I want to hopefully be competitive but it is really about making an awesome squat list!

So 5 pods drop first turn which is pretty awesome.

7 TL Heavy Flamers
4 TL Flamers
3 TL CombiFlamers
9 TL Multimeltas
Bunch of Strength. 10 in combat
Bunch of str. 4 dakadaka as well.

Being able to disembark 6" from a drop pod is really nice now, in combination with people having to have half their army on the board I think Drop Pods are a lot better.

Plus I want an excuse to play 6 of these guys...

It's good however what if your opponent reserves lots of heavy weapons of their own or bubble wraps?

I think combi Sternguard would fit your list perfectly. The hellfire rounds will also help against nidzilla lists.

Love the mantic forgefather model. If you go the combi sternguard route checkout chapterhouse studios magnetic kits ie here

Actually while I'm on CH for this list check out their Salamander doors. Perfect for your list.

Units in drop pods are exempted.

Nasty list with a nice theme! My typical tyranid force would have trouble with this...

As a friend to the suggested combi melta sternguard, maybe get a runesmith (librarian) with a mobile burrower unit (gate of infinity power) to move them around.
