So I decided I wanted to paint up a small nomads force mostly because I very much like a few of the models and they're incredibly different in aesthetics to the Ariadna I've painted previously. I think I may actually start playing too, so I'd like for these nomads to be a solid army too.

The models I'm definitely getting are :
Salamanders TAGs
Krazy Koalas
Méteor Zond
Sin eater snipers.

So what else do I need to (or should I?) add to these models to create a decent army?

I'd suggest some basic grunts at the least. You'll need some orders to make your team work so some base cheap troops get you several extra orders very cheaply. Alguacil's are probably your best bet, and if you're playing sectorial you can link team them for a bit more lethality.

I agree with the sentiment above. You need basic troops to give you orders.

Also, think about WIldcats* - AD with various options is a killer.

*Might actually be Hellcats or Tomcats, I don't know which is which.

Would one of the starter boxes suit the core troops just fine?

It would give you 3 of the basic troops... might want to add one or two more through blisters of special weapons. a HMG or grenade launcher are normally good additions to a basic link team
