No. Should be fun if you have alot of deep striking units. Oh, and orbital bombardment can be fun too, albeit quite unreliable. And it's cheap. In points.

I'd imagine if you just hid it in the backfield behind cover so no LOS you should be ok with it.

For Terminator Deep strikes or Reserve based armies this would be great, especially if played in context with one of the HQ units that gives a number bonus to reserve rolls (Cortex ect..).

The Orbital Bombardment is just an added bonus, and for 60pts its not bad, and cheap enough to chance the loss on.

I might try one in my army as I only rarely use both HQ spots in my FOC, might be fun to pair it with Pedro for two Orbital bombardments on turn one

Might proxy one in my next DA list. They don't have access to orbital bombardment and re-roll deep strike scatter dice will be nice for DWA.

Stick it out of sight in some ruins with a RW darkshroud...

Lol, not a bad idea phoenix, that shroud should help keep that thing alive and should really play well with termies or deep striking raven wing elements.

Let us know how it goes!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
At 2k here's what I would do:

HEADQUARTERS
Belial
Techmarine, servo-harness, 2 servitors with PC
ADL quad-gun
Damocles Rhino

TROOPS
DW termies (x5), PW, 3xCF, 1xAC
DW termies (x5), PW, 2xCF, 1xPF, 1xAC
DW termies (x5), TH sgt, 1xTH, 2xLC, 1xPF/CML
DW termies (x5), TH sgt, 1xTH, 2xLC, 1xTH/CML
DW termies (x5), LC sgt, 2xLC, 1xTH, 1xPC

FAST ATTACK
RW Darkshroud

HEAVY SUPPORT
Mortis-Contemptor, dual Kheres, CML

Between the techmarine bolstering ruins the Aegis line and the darkshroud I should have good options to protect the rhino and contemptor, and then full abuse of DWA. Some of the unusual termie loadouts is due to WYSIWYG...

The Damocles is a great bit of kit for allied Apoc games. It lets you deploy virtually everything in reserve and reduces your teams' deployment time by the time cost of all your reserves and all your thinking about where to put them. It lets your allies deploy with much more space on the board, faster cuz they're not falling over you and your units, brings your units in soon to help your allies with the jobs that they are opening up for themselves, and then, since your army is different from theirs, lets you work from behind the cover of your allies lines for a good part. I took out a Stompa with saturation Lascannon fire from all over the table once. It couldn't react well to targets at all but nearly every Las and Twin las present was directly under my control and neatly tucked away behind more imminent threats to the opposing team which were mostly allies of my army rather than my own units.

There's the bombardment as well.

In 5th ed standard 40k it could be coupled with a counts-as-Corsarro Khan model for an extra +1 to reserve rolls, but comms do that for you now. I don't know how important it still is for regular 40k but it works very well for APOC, especially now that your allies can be battle brothers.

One good trick my Tank heavy ImpFists succesors did with Apoc allies (5th ed era) was combine all bombardments to clear a particular location flanking the enemy advance and then reserve roll in a whole second combined firebase. Its' main firing lane, which was essentially already behind enemy lines, also ended up performing as a secondary invasion corridor for us-and that's with the drop pods and other deep strikers arriving elsewhere (except for a little clean up crew for the initial firebase setup).

Mine is converted from an old Transformer weapon/sensor thing and a Rhino and can still be used as a Rhino or RBack. I say make the Damocles upgrade and leave it lying around. There's no reason your mech stable shouldn't have one just in case.

If by "great" you mean "utterly broken", then yes. 60 points for an orbital bombardment is insane. If you hate having friends, just bring a few dozen of them and just wipe anything smaller than a titan off the table.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

can i just ask, how are all of you fitting 6 DW squads in those lists plus other troops?

Terminators can't have combat squads and if you take Belial they ALL BECOME troops, not scoring, so you can only have 6 squads max, and no other troops. Unless i have something wrong

3500 (ish) points
who-knows-how-many points random stuff

I don't think like that. I use only one Damocles. BUT I do very much see what you mean and can identify entirely.
