I want to paint a cross on a helmet, but I'm having trouble keeping the tape straight. Does it only work on one completely flat surface, or can it work on rounded parts?

You can use Blue Tac for rounded surfaces. Works like a champ.

It works, but requires you to be careful. Don't manipulate the tape directly with your fingers if you can. The grease from them will make the already mild adhesive on the tape even harder to stick. Use tweezers and to stick the tape in place I recommend a silicone brush. Those things are marvelous for setting tape and even working green stuff.

This is what they look like.
