A while ago at my local gaming store they played this game but as I've found out recently it has died. Ive thought about collecting the models and possibly getting friends to play here and there or to try and see if theres still people around me that play it.

But what I'm asking is whats the game like? I want to kinda see if I like it to really get into it. Big fan of Godzilla and a recent movie called Pacific Rim has really caught my attention and made me think about this game.

Is it generally an easy game to learn or is it like 40k and has a ton of rules.

How do armies work or whatever you would call them, as well, are their certain army build that are Over powered and cant be beaten or is it a game where you can usually counter anything that happens?

Thanks for the replies, hopefully someone out their still plays and can give advice lol.

MonPoc plays like a mix of your typical collectable miniatures game, with a dash of over the top wrestling, and with smaller units thrown in.

You did more in the game by using the wrestling moves than by attacking.

It was a nice game, but got really complex quickly.

I was checking out some videos on youtube, one of how to play the basics by this group "team covenant" and it looked really interesting and looked fun but I do agree it did start to get crazy with everything that was going on with it.

I'm actually removing my figures from their existing bases and putting them on others to use in Gruntz 15mm. I bought a bunch, but never got around to learning the actual rules to Monsterpocalypse.

I am the one you warned me of

May I suggest geekdo.com , they have great reviews about Monsterpocalypse. Personally I only bought the miniatures to be rebased and used for Epic 40,000.

MonPoc is a great game. I used to play this quite a lot and it gives you the feel of real monster mayhem. Nothing like Defender X picking up Terra Khan and chucking him on top of several buildings that get demolished into a fiery heap. Or Slamming a monster through three different buildings. If you have played Warmachine or Hordes the feel is very similar in that units, buildings, and monsters all synergize to create powerful attacks and the terminology for power attacks is similar too.

The rules are very well written and plays very well but can get very complex very quickly as you need to remember tons of symbols for different abilities and then remember how they synergize with the units and buildings. Also if you don't have the maps you really can't play the game as you need the maps to set your "city" and then battle.

Sadly the collectible nature of the game kinda doomed it but and then the company stopped supporting it when it was rumored that Privateer Press was going to do a movie based on the franchise.

Balance between the factions is pretty even. Terrasuars are brawlers that can regenerate. Sadly my favorite Terrasuar, Terra Khan, isn't terrible good but still is fun to play.

I could describe game play bit it is a bit lengthy. I believe you can download the rule book for free from the Privateer Press site too.

I will have to check out their site and see if I can find the rules. I watched another company "covenant gaming" as they had a video of basics of how to play. Looks very fun and not exactly hard to play.

I plan on using Terra Khan and a little bit of Pteradax (godzilla and rodan lol)

Anyone know of sites to buyy figures off, Ebay was a let down as they dont got either monster and as Ive searched I havent found much.

Troll and Toad had a pretty big selection at one point. If you can't find it online let me know I might have one...

I think miniature market may still sell singles which is usually the best way to buy. Remember getting units and monsters is relatively easy... the buildings that can be rough if you just buy packs as you only get one building per pack. If you you buy the random boosters and such definitely find a place to buy singles of buildings. Also if they have Map Packs pick up one or two to have a variety of maps to play on. Also the Map Packs usually have an "exclusive" building.

I havent checked troll and toad and I will try that out. Minitures market is actually out of both monsters as well, Ive been on many sites and everyone is basically out of them I think I will be good on building as the guy thats gunna teach me has a container filled with them and we will probably work out a trade between 40k and monpoc stuff.

Ive seen unit cases all over and I may pick one up once I get the money as that'll give me like all the units necessary and give me some buildings.

Catyrpelius I will probably send you a pm over the next week, atleast by next Tuesday if I am unable to find them, Thanks for the help.

Troll and toad is out. No online site has terra khan or pteradax in stock. Ebay and amazon also do not. Only monster I can find is armodax. I will talk with the guy thats going to teach me how to play and see if hes got any extras.

Just got lucky! the store 5 below was selling boosters for 3bucks and I picked 3 up and got terra khan in 1 of them, 1 down, 1 to go. Then everything else that required for the game.

At one point I thought I heard that the game was no longer going to be a CMG, and that it would have metal minis. However, I looked around and it still looks like a CMG.

That would be interesting to have metal minis. Supposedly if the movie does come out there is talk of the game being rebooted.
