So I have a doubles tournament in March set in Mid War. Seeing as I play Americans I have been looking at there lists. I really like the Rangers, with being Fearless yet Trained they won't run easily, yet are cheap eough that I can have some toys.

1. Are they a good army? I have only played my Paras in Late War and have no experience in other armies.
2. Does "Although its component Ranger Platoons operate as separate platoons for all other purposes, a Ranger Company deploys all at the same time as a single platoon" mean that they also count as platoons for the purpose of determining how many platoons my army has?
3. Any tips and tricks for Ranger I should know?

Proud to be Obliviously Blue since 2011!

The line about the company deploying all at once is obsolete in V3. Look at page 17 under Multipart Platoons.

Each sub-unit that has it's own command team deploys and acts entirely separately as individual platoons. Each one counts as a platoon for all purposes.
