Apologize if this is not the proper forum.
I found a tyranid army I was interested in purchasing. I don't know much about tyranids so I don't know what is a good offer to make on the set.
What would be a reasonable offer for the following lot, they are all assembled but unpainted.
HQ:
1x Hive Tyrant (bare metal; will include 4 Chapterhouse boneswords for the Swarmlord)
2x Tyrant Guard (bare metal)
ELITES:
4x Hive Guard (bare metal)
2x Zoanthropes (bare metal)
2x Venomthropes (bare finecast)
1x Doom of Malan'tai (resin, Troll-Forged Miniatures)
1x Lictor (bare metal)
TROOPS:
2x Tervigon (Chapterhouse conversion)
8x Tyranid Warriors (1x Venom Cannon, 4x Deathspitter, 3x chapterhouse boneswords and lashwhips)
60+ Termagants (plastic)
40+ Hormagaunts (plastic)
1x Broodlord
36x Genestealers (plastic)
FAST ATTACK:
20x Gargoyles (bare plastic)
3x Ravener (bare plastic)
9x Spore Mines (bare metal)
HEAVY SUPPORT:
1x Trygon (bare plastic)
2x Carnifex (plastic)
OTHER:
Tyranid Codex
Oop Tyranid Codex
1x Battlefoam 6" (Carries 3x Trygons, 2x Carnifex, 4x Zoanthropes)
Tons and Tons of Tyranid bitz (Devour sprues + more)

If I were you I'd just spend a few minutes on the GW site and add up the price of it all. Then just divide by what you think it's worth. I don't buy a lot of 2nd hand models, but when I do I typically aim for about half price compared to the brand new models, less if they've been constructed in ways that's going to take me more time to deal with.
You could also just add up the cost of the things you want if there's things you don't think you'll use or care about, then divide that by whatever factor you feel is fair.

Since you can get almost every retail model for 25-30% off retail, and assembled but unpainted models often are missing the 'extra parts' from the sprue which allows customization, my starting price for second-hand models is 50% retail and then 'go down' from there based upon quality and re-hab needed.

I agree with AllSeeingSkink.
I would pay no more usually than 40% to 50% of the current retail price if buying on eBay.
The models have been constructed, which saves time, but means you can't use the options you might want without converting them. On the plus side, you won't need to strip them.
However, in this case, you could possibly offer less, say, 30-35% of full value. The seller obviously wants to get rid of them and it will be easier for him to do that in one batch than by listing them separately on eBay, so he might accept an offer of $300 (made up figure) now, rather than the possibility of $400 in several batches over the next few weeks.
February is possibly the worst month to sell anything, and therefore the best month to buy. It partly depends if the seller is a friend and you want to keep him as one.

Sounds good.
Well, I forgot to ask the competitive of this lot. Could a good list be generated with what is there?

Certainly under 5th edition. I am not experienced with Tyranids under 6th.
However, it contains practically a lot of options so I would be surprised if you were unable to put together some decent lists, subject to points level and so on.

Yes. This lot has almost everything you want... Tyrant, Tervigons, lots of gants, Zoeys, the Doom, Hive Guard, and genestealers (count as Ymgarls), Gargoyles and a Trygon. If you bought this, I'd just add one Flyrant, and a pod for the Doom.

thats the sole reason i have a GW shop tab up on my computer. Im constantly adding up prices. Unless its NIB i wont go more than 50-60% the cost of what it is because 1) these armies usually dont offer the spare bitz that came with the models and 2) theyre usually assembled poorly, not the way you want, or break in the mail since it was assembled.
If someone is trying to sell an unpainted assembled army, he/she isnt trying to make money cuz they wont ever make money from it. Or even break even, for that matter.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't see the Doom or a pod on the GW site. Is a pod something I would have to convert? My conversion skills are not so good, any suggestions?

Gw doesn't have a model for either yet. Rumors are they will be releasing mysetic spores in the next year our so, but who knows. I just use a converted xian for the doom, and a drop pod for his spore.

Plasma Hatcher eggs.
Glue shut, spray paint, base. As far as the lot you're looking at goes, I would consider investing in it. You have most of your 6th ed nid staples present.
