First off, this will most likely be a fun army built on a theme, and any actual tournament viability would be a bonus. The idea of a footslogging army pushing forward behind siege tanks such as vindicators appeals to me, so I'm planning on having squads of 20 marines with MoN pushing up the board behind some possessed vindicators with havocs for heavy support. I would consider oblits, but since I want a pre-heresy feel, I probably won't field them without some sort of conversion being done. For support, I want to take an artillery battery from the guard codex.

My main concerns are a) how easy is fearless to get in the CSM codex? Not much sucks more than that blob squad you left to guard an objective running off the board, and b) are warpsmiths any good?

I love the idea, Should totally give MoN to all your marines and model them with robotic parts as well. Autocannon havocs are great heavy support, but if your going to run vindicators, run 3 of them. Use your Imperial Guard detachment to bring some artillery, and Commissar lead guardsmen blob to hold your home objectives while firing heavy weapons downfield. This would stop you from needing fearless space marines to hold your objective. You can then instead take marines to the offense. Warpsmiths are so so, but honestly, you should take one anyways just to fit the theme. Have your army lead by two of them, keep them cheap. might want to bring some hellbrutes (Use standard space marine dreadnoughts since pre-hersy ironwarriors would have anything too daemonic.) And lastly I think you could still bring helldrakes but represented by something a bit more normal looking.

Yeah, telling people how this and that is 'garbage' and they should just throw their minis into the trash as they're not as efficient as XYZ.
