Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. I originally decided to do a fire angels army, but have now decided that a DIY chapter makes much more sense and i feel will give me much more satisfaction that just building a force of a chapter with a quite a comprehensive history; courtesy of IA9. Over the next few weeks and months i will expand this with pictures of my progress on the modelling, painting and development of the lore.

My captain was my first model to be made, and so was extremely fun to build, i never used to remove mould lines when i collected last as i was a young'un who wanted to build them as fast as possible! not much in the way of conversion at all though i'm afraid!

These are the two sergeants of the tactical squads, due to the fact i was going to get an Unforgiven chapter i bought the DA upgrade sprue. This gave me the awesome looking power maul that one of the sergeants wielding! One i collected last all SM armies had loads of banners flying, nowadays that doesn't seem to be the case, but i think it fits in with my view of SMs and so will use them on all sergeants etc.

My vet Sergeant for the command squad, looks pretty well equipped and his modified armour gives him that veteran look (note: another banner!)

My ironclad, i wasn't sure on which weapon option to give him, but i plan to use him in a drop pod, so decided on CCW weapons being the best choice. Another banner to inflict more painting misery also!

My final picture for the time being is of the Razorback for my command sqaud, I think the HK missile on the side of the turret looks pretty cool, like the TOW launchers on a bradley IFV!

Hope you like them so far, comments are all welcome, i will try to update it as regualry as i can, although being split between 2 places in the country means it will be irregular updates.

Just an update, i built my models at quite a fast rate, i remebered to get some pictures though.

Just a few tactical marines

I've started painting the weapons, i decided to leave them off the model so i could paint both the guns and the chestplate properly. I used Chaos black on these.

I also got these recently, the spray takes getting used to, so practicing is important. It seems to have a resin like property, very stick to touch when first applied.

Currently deciding what to buy next, i currently own a captain, a command squad w/ razorback, an ironclad w/ DP, 20 tactical marines, 5 scout snipers and a LRC. I'm pondering a termie assault squad and 2 rhinos to put the tactical squads in.

Currently thinking of an original, good name that doesn't sound too cliche. Much harder than i thought!

Looking forward to seeing some colour on these!

Also, that Vet Serg reminds me heavily of Kantor

So i originally thought of 2 colour schemes i now have 3! In all of them, the grey is platemail primer with a wash of nuln oil. They aren't very fancy i know but i'm not a fan of hectic colour schemes, less is more haha

Scheme 1 - only problem is it looks quite similar to the iron snakes chapter except they use white instead of the bone colour on the shoulder pads

Scheme 2

Scheme 3

So which do you think? 2 or 3 are the ones catching my eye at the moment!

Don't try to hotlink to B&C's painter. Do a screencap of the finished product and upload it here.

Edited the previous post, also I've bought a squad of assault terminators, should arrive at the start of next week, i have also built the entire megaforce. Here's a pic:

I also sprayed my ironclad, the army painter primers take some getting used to, practicing on some old sprue was definitely worth it!

I will also be getting a better quality camera soon

I'm think the first scheme is best, closely fallowed by the third scheme.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I like the first too. I like to keep the pallet small but also to break up too much of one color. Might just be that I like the bleach bone offst because I love blood ravens lol.

I'm stuck between first and third schemes... what about doing one pad in black n the other in bone?

Thanks for all your ideas guys, i also think first and third are my favourite schemes. Kitch that's an awesome idea, I'm definitely going to paint up a test model of that. Unfortunately I'm up in uni at the moment and most of my paints are at home. i do have a LRC a razor back and 8 tactical marines, i'll try get some painting done on them today/tomorrow. I do have some assault termies coming on Monday so will make them to pass the time until i return home in the next 2 weeks sometime to pick up the rest of the army

Finally done some painting, i started on my crusader first as i knew the paint palette i wanted to use on them, Just a WIP at the moment.

I've also finalized the colour scheme, seen as i like both the third and first colour scheme i have done as kitch102 suggested and combined them. Here it is!

Looking to at least start my tactical marines today, i also have some more ideas regarding the chapter icon etc. I'll update hopefully this evening.

Use all of them. Tactical/Assault/Devestator type of thing.

Your models look really nice!

In terms of your scheme, i like number 3. Give it a red (or black) helm though, just to break up the silver - preferably red. That might be an issue, seeing as you've already started painting things

Great start to an army. I agree the scheme needs something to break it up. Not sure about the red helms though - to me a red helm indicates a sergeant rank.

Maybe paint the chest eagles a different colour?

Agreed on this one, i think i'm going to do the chest eagle in red like the banding around the shoulder pads, will break up all the silver a bit.

Also look what i got in the post this morning

Hello everyone, i went home this weekend and got some serious painting done!
Captain

vet sarge

champion

standard bearer

apothecary

almost complete tactical squad (ran out of plate-mail primer :( )

So i hope you like them, sorry i have not got a better camera yet! all i need to do is now paint the left shoulder pad black then my first two squads will be completed and ready to be based, varnished and have transfers put on.
I think i will use one of the 2 lightning signs on the SM transfer sheet as they aren't for a specific chapter from what i can see on lexicanum and w40k wiki.

Well guys, due to me being way up north at uni without my army or paints i can't do anything major (booo hiss boooo)

however i have managed to build my assault terminators, which once i start playing again will unleash their FUNhammers on my foes!

hope you like, i have left the shields off to allow me to reach all the nooks and crannies on the model.
