Does he confer this to the dedicated transport he is embarked in? I dont have the codex in front of me right now to look at what is stated.

No, as it only applies to Azrael and his unit. Embarking him on transport doesn't make him part of the transports unit IIRC

That is correct, azrael would embark a transport, he does not "join" it.

There are some people out there who do believe you are "joined" to a vehicle when you embark it, and thus think you are required to fire at the same targets, count towards how many weapons it can fire, etc - this isnt true.

No you are with the transport. You are not joined to it. If you were "joined" then the transport would have to embark upon itself, have to shoot at the same target, etc.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

My question is if his 4++ rule would apply to an allied unit he has joined (brothers in arms allies obviously). Because his rule says that the 4++ is conferred to the unit he is with. It does not specify that the unit must be from codex: dark angels. For example, can I drop down my BA stern guard in a drop pod with Azreal and benefit from his 4++?

Or, more importantly, can the 4++ be applied to 50 Guardsmen with Power Axes and Commisars?

Any unit he joins benefits. however, your example is debatable. One side says BB cannot embark into allied transports (so no). The other side says that an IC is a member of the unit he joins for all rules purposes (which in your situation would make him a BA and allow him to come in the Sternguards Drop Pod, so yes). Whether or not an IC can embark into an allied transport while joined to the respective unit is debatable and is a topic for another thread.

Okay, throw th transport out of the equation. Would his 4++ apply to an allied unit he has joined?

Yes, it specifies Azrael and his unit. So any nit he joins would benefit. If they wanted it to be only Dark Angels units it would specify.
